Schindler was hardly a good businessman, as matter of fact after the war all his attempts were more than failures, just check it out. Only with slave labour at Krakau did the enterprise make some money and that was more or less due to the business acumen of his Jewish manager Stern who run his place. Schindler was deeply involved in Black Marketeering as long as he could make money on the side. True, he saved Jewish lives and has been honoured for this by Israel.

If you read enough on the era, Schindler had a good idea but the choices for his transport were those around his home town and nearby villages, and those who could afford the fare ($1,000 ?). He was neither saint nor sinner, just a businessman trying to do something that made good sense (and provided him with new coverage to support his activities.). He deserves his place of honor in Israel.

2016 ?…wonder what it’s going to show. Things are not going well now, wonder how things will be going then no matter who gets elected. It’s worrisome.

The American public believes that the SS men in the camps could do whatever they wanted, since the public believes that there was no control over the camps. Starting in 1942, the camps were controlled by the WVHA office in Oranienburg, but movies like Schindler’s List have made people believe that the SS did not have to get permission from the WVHA to punish or execute a prisoner. Amon Goeth is shown in the movie shooting prisoners for sport, and there was no central office to stop this behavior. Goeth was eventually arrested by the Nazis, for taking bribes from the prisoners and stealing from the warehouses in the camp, not for killing prisoners at random. According to the movie Schindler’s List, shooting prisoners for sport was allowed.

If NOT the Nazi government then who does the American public believe controlled the the concentration camps?
