18 inch layer of fat inside Auschwitz chimneys?

The title of my blog post today is from the subject line of an e-mail that I got from a follower of my blog.  My first thought was: Which chimneys at Auschwitz?  According to the official account of the Holocaust, all the crematoria at the Auschwitz II camp at Birkenau were destroyed by the Germans just before the Soviet soldiers liberated the camp on January 27, 1945 and there were no chimneys still in existence.  So how did the Soviet liberators determine that there was 18 inches of fat inside the chimneys?

Ruins of Krema II, Feb. 1945

My e-mail correspondent sent me a link to an article in the Daily Mail here which mentions a new book about the Soviet liberation of Auschwitz.

Here is a quote which I copied from the Daily Mail article:

The insanity was worse when the extermination camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau were reached. Most of the inmates had been marched away, but some remained. The sight of them was shattering.
“I had seen many innocent people killed. I had seen hanged people and burned people,” wrote one hardened company commander, “but I was still unprepared for Auschwitz.”
Another Red Army soldier recalled “emaciated, brutally tortured people wrapped in rags. Most were unable to stand, but lay on plank beds or sat propped up against the wall. It was a vision of hell”.
Horror after horror revealed itself – mounds of corpses; the children’s barracks, with just two survivors; warehouses stuffed with a million men’s suits and women’s dresses; the 18-inch layer of fat caking the inside of the chimneys.
“I could not comprehend how a human mind could conceive of this,” said  a sergeant after seeing inside a “shower room”.
This devastating evidence of the massacre and torture of their people spurred on the Russian Army. Another witness told his comrades: “Show the German bastards no mercy. Smash them to pulp.”

I have always been suspicious that the crematoria at Birkenau were not blown up by the Germans to destroy the evidence of gassing and burning the prisoners, but rather what really happened was that the buildings were found intact by the Soviet soldiers, who then blew them up so that they could tell the story their way.

Ruins of Krema II, early Feb. 1945

The revisionist version of the Auschwitz story is that there were two underground rooms under the Krema II and Krema III buildings which were both morgues to store the bodies before they were burned in the ovens on the ground floor.  The Holocaustian version is that, in both Krema II and Krema III, one underground room was an undressing room and the other room was a gas chamber. So how did the Germans manage without a morgue?  Did they leave the dead bodies outside the building when the ovens couldn’t keep up with burning the bodies of the prisoners who had been gassed?

Both buildings are nothing but rubble now, so we will never know what really happened.

But to get back to the 18 inches of fat inside the chimneys.  When I lived in Germany years ago, I would see the chimney sweep guys riding around on bicycles, dressed in black from head to toe with a black top hat.  I was told that it brought good luck to a person who saw a chimney sweep, so everyone was supposed to wave or acknowledge that they had seen the guy who had brought them good luck.  So that makes me wonder: were there no chimney sweeps at Auschwitz?

I had a fireplace in a house where I lived for 15 years but I never once had the chimney cleaned.  The German people were very persnickety about their chimneys and they cleaned them constantly.  Were they remiss in this chore at Auschwitz?  Besides that, wouldn’t the fat have burned up completely, leaving no residue inside the chimney?

Note also this information in the quote:  “Horror after horror revealed itself – mounds of corpses; the children’s barracks, with just two survivors; warehouses stuffed with a million men’s suits and women’s dresses….”

I’ve never seen any photos of “mounds of corpses” at Auschwitz.  Did the Soviets  forget to take photos of the “mounds of corpses?”

There is a photo of the warehouses, taken after the liberation, but the warehouses are on fire; they were allegedly set on fire by the Germans and were still burning a week later when the Soviets arrived.  Have the Soviet liberators been caught in another lie?

Warehouses at Birkenau burned for a week after the Germans left on January 18, 1945

What about the photos of children marching out of the Birkenau camp and the photo of child survivors showing their tattoos?  The photos show that there were more than two child survivors.

What about the “emaciated, brutally tortured people wrapped in rags” who were found by the Soviet liberators?

Survivors of Auschwitz main camp

Here is my tip on how to take a photo of emaciated, brutally tortured people wrapped in rags:  Make sure that you don’t have a guy with a double chin in the foreground of the photo.

Krema I, the gas chamber building at the main Auschwitz camp, had been converted into a bomb shelter by the Germans before the Soviet liberators arrived; the ovens had been removed and there was no chimney.  The Soviets reconstructed the gas chamber and the ovens and put up a new chimney in 1947.  This chimney was alleged to be original even though it was not attached in any way to the reconstructed building.

  1. Some people are sick. You are one of those people whom would have been enjoying burning others. Yuck. Some humans are literally victims of terrible parent upbringing.

    • You wrote: “Some people are sick.”

Whom are you addressing? Do you mean that I am sick?

You wrote: “You are one of those people WHOM would have been enjoying burning others.”

That should be “You are one of those people WHO would have ENJOYED burning others.”

      • Well, thanks for the correction English professor. Still, the stuff you wrote above is disgusting, if you think psychopaths are all cutsey, gummy bears and rainbow, then you need a reality check. Never make apologies for those sick psychopaths of that era. It could have been your mother, grandpa or child. If you lack comprehension of that, then as i said before, “Your a victim of bad parenting.”(stands for all dimensions of parenting needed to bring up a well rounded child)

  2. Hello. I don’t know if you can help me but I was wondering in which nazi war camp there were 2 tall cylindrical chimneys, one shorter than the other. Very tall I think grey/white chimneys?

  3. Dear oh Deary me, another Holocaust denier, do you think these concentration camps were built for fun ? Do you think these crematoriums – the ones that many spoke of the horrid memory of, were for there for show ? Do you think those chimneys were just for burning coal for heating purposes ? Where do you think the millions that were sent to Auschwitz and Birkenau that never emerged again are meant to have disappeared to ? Maybe you think the Nazis were nice people and they didn’t like the thought of killing innocent, harmless minorities, maybe you think they did, but you don’t care too much for their victims so wish to exculpate their murderers for their enormities, maybe you have relatives who were involved in the genocide. Maybe you don’t think the truth matters and should be revised and rewritten and overturned at every possible juncture on the strength of a few quibbles as to the veracity of reported actualities, but whatever your motives, they seem to me dubious in the extreme, which is to say approving of mass murder, of mass murderers and indifferent to suffering and cruelty, in the interests of exonerating those who were guilty by using most people’s incredulity as to the extremes of inhumanity as a means to absolve the perpetrators, who all the same were capable of such extreme crimes, as many witnesses of all nationalities at the time, attest, and whose political or national interests in relating the truth as they saw it, did not and do not, unlike your attempts to excuse the killers, sully the facts.

    • Are you Simon Evans, the comedian, or one of the other fools named Simon Evans?

You are commenting on a blog post that went up over a year ago. You must keep up if you want to participate.

Did you ever learn in school that you should not write a “run on sentence”?

In another comment, you used the word crematoriums instead of crematoria.

    • You seem to be completely clueless, so I will attempt to educate you. The following speech, which was made by Heinrich Himmler, explains why the Jews were put into camps.

“To have gone through this, and at the same time, apart from exceptions caused by human weaknesses, to have remained decent, that has made us hard. This is a chapter of glory in our history which has never been written, and which never shall be written; since we know how hard it would be for us if we still had the Jews, as secret saboteurs, agitators, and slander-mongers, among us now, in every city — during the bombing raids, with the suffering and deprivations of the war. We would probably already be in the same situation as in 1916/17 if we still had the Jews in the body of the German people.” Heinrich Himmler, Poznan speech, Oct. 4, 1943

The important part of the speech is this: “since we know how hard it would be for us if we still had the Jews, as secret saboteurs, agitators, and slander-mongers, among us now, in every city — during the bombing raids, with the suffering and deprivations of the war.”

In other words, the Jews were put into camps so that they would not be secret saboteurs and agitators during a war.

In America, German-American citizens were put into camps for the same reason. German citizens were kidnapped in South America and put into camps in America for the same reason.

      • Your pitiful effort to trivialize the genocide of the Jews by one liar’s (Himmel’s) carefully scripted propaganda speech still can’t hide the obvious truth, as emphasized by the very words you highlighted in bold type – “..if we still had the Jews..” – the word “had” is a past tense, a past participle – the Jews were gone, murdered. Your claim that the Americans were just as much at fault for putting Germans into camps is not only specious, but not even in the same league. We’re talking about genocide here, not some temporary holding camp.

        Choke on your own words.

        • Here is the quote again:
“…since we know how hard it would be for us if we still had the Jews, as secret saboteurs, agitators, and slander-mongers, among us now, in every city — during the bombing raids, with the suffering and deprivations of the war. We would probably already be in the same situation as in 1916/17 if we still had the Jews in the body of the German people.”

He is saying that we (the Germans) don’t have Jews among us in every city because we have put them into concentration camps. He is not claiming that all the Jews have been killed and that is why we don’t have them in every city.

The words quoted above are part of a conditional sentence. Wikipedia explains what a “conditional sentence” is here:

This is an If-Then sentence. If we hadn’t sent the Jews out of Germany to camps in Poland, then we would have them in every city, making trouble. He is NOT saying “If we hadn’t killed the Jews in gas chambers, we would now have them in every city, making trouble.

  4. All the starved and marasmic dying or dead concentration camp inmates, which are shown in the disgusting propaganda movies or pictures, were victims of the Allies, and NOT victims of the Nazis.
In thousands of movie clips and pictures of the camps, you never see one single victim of gassing or any other execution method, only victims of starvation: Initially these living skeletons were starved to death by the famishment warfare of the Allies. The total embargo of Germany by the Allies prevented ALL food supply and low flying planes all over Germany murdered all farmers who tried to sow, plow or harvest.
The camp inmates naturally suffered most from the the total collapse of food supply in Germany 1944. Their starved bodies could not resist a typhus infection. Many Jews who came newly into the camps carried lice which spread typhus bacteria. The camps did everything to fight the lice with all possible hygienic measures.
Those who did not die from starvation or typhus until 1945, were raped to death by the “liberator” Red Army.
And many thousands of those who survived the mass raping by the Russian “liberators” were killed by the American “liberators”, who fed them with oily American junk food, which kills even healthy strong men slowly, but which was absolutely lethal for the marasmic, typhus damaged guts of the starved inmates.

    • So you think the millions of people who entered Auschwitz who never emerged again, went there for a holiday or something and that the chimneys were for heating purposes, and the crematoriums were for baking purposes ?

      Comment by Simon Evans — July 9, 2015 @ 4:07 am

    • Starved because why? Americans brits bombed everything even the railways and the roads.. So there wasn`t any possible way how to support those camps with food, so they just starved.. Actually those inmates were in a good condition, they had norma calorie food in a morning, dinner and so on.. In morning they were getting bread with sousage slices, also soup and tea/coffe … They wasn`t starved on purpose..

  6. While some stories get embellished- a natural occurrence by the victors of any battle, are some of you people so hateful, blind and ignorant to trump your own success in spotting these embellishments while ignoring the cold hard facts of photos showing emancipated beaten prisoners? Usually stacked up like firewood awaiting disposal or worse, appearing dead then a starved gaunt 4 stone man moves and you have to see and believe that is a human being there, robbed of everything it is to be human?

So stop your vulture picking of the bond and focus on the putrid meat- these camps were death camps, and they were only camps because the SS had to store them before they could kill them.

  9. All these “ho£o€au$t” fairy tales never stop — and almost all of them are very easy to put apart. All it takes is some average technical knowledge — one also have to know/understand the law of physics.
Take the function of the crematory oven for example. Countless “eye witnesses” have seen the “flames of the corpses” coming out of the chimneys and they have felt the “smell of burnt flesh”. Many could even see if it where children or women who was burning by the colour of the smoke from the chimney!
All that is only fantasies, lies and stupid nonsense. As usual, the story tellers have no idea about common technique and how things/machines works.

The inside of the “chamber” where the dead body is placed is a completely sealed of box which is NEVER reached by any fire or flames. (in modern furnaces there are usually some nozzles for gas burners inside — but their purpose are only to pre-heat the inside walls of the chamber to 700-800 Celsius (1300-1500 Fahrenheit), BEFORE the corps is placed there!)
The “chamber” with the corps where/is heated ONLY from its outside — from the sides and beneath. The heat inside the chamber during the cremation process is 870-1150 Celsius (1600-2100 Fahrenheit). In that intense heat the corps first looses all its water and dries out, then it self ignite. The soft tissues and smaller bones are vaporized and oxidized and transformed to ash. The process is usually interrupted before the bigger bones are completely transformed — which instead are mechanically pulverized afterwards.
Small amounts of gasses produced during the process where/are discharged through a filter and exhaust system.

So there is NO WAY that fat from a cremated corps could condensate on the inside of the crematory chimney — it is just not physical possible! But the story tellers had no idea how a crematory oven worked — they thought it was like a common kitchen stove.
And that is very lucky for us revisionists, because it made it very easy to catch story tellers in their lies….

  10. In fairness, the eyewitness didn’t say the chimney he say the 18 inches of fat was a crematorium chimney, as you point out – it couldn’t have been. But it could easily have been a kitchen chimney.

Nor could the shower room have been a gas chamber, it could have been a shower room, however

    Comment by littlegreyrabbit — June 25, 2011 @ 2:33 am

    • I currently live in a house that has a kitchen chimney. It is a red brick chimney about two feet high on the top of the house. The house was built back in the days when people still had wood-burning stoves in the kitchen. How would fat get inside such a chimney? I don’t know of anyone who ever burned fat in their kitchen stove. In Germany, in 1945, people were cooking over kitchen stoves that burned coal. I think the stoves at Auschwitz used coal. Remember that Auschwitz was located in the so-called “Black Triangle” which was a region that was famous for having lots of coal mines.

There is a large kitchen building at the Auschwitz main camp; it is to the left just after you enter the Arbeit gate. There are many short chimneys on the top of this building. The Soviets could have been talking about those chimneys, but why would they have climbed up on top of the kitchen roof to look down into the chimneys?

  12. I haven’t been able to track down a copy of the book as yet but found this quote (re Auschwitz) in a review on Amazon

“This profoundly important liberation is still marred by oft-repeated assumptions that are misleading or downright wrong. The Red Army did not walk into a camp already abandoned by the Germans. They had to fight for it. Soviet soldiers were not so brutalized by the war that they were unable to emotionally engage with what they found there. They were deeply moved, shocked and disturbed by what they witnessed – even today, many still have nightmares about it.”

    Sounds like a ‘must-read’

    Comment by Ethelred — June 25, 2011 @ 1:53 am

    • I have read in several different books that the Red Army was in the area on January 17, 1945 and the Germans left in a hurry on January 18, 1945. They allegedly came back twice to blow up the crematoria before the Red Army got to the camp for the first time on January 27, 1927. I have never read anywhere that there was a fight to liberate the camp.

Keep in mind that in 1945, many people were living in primitive conditions, even in America. I was living in a house that had no running water and no central heat. People in Poland and Russia were living the same way so I don’t understand why they were shocked at the sight of Birkenau. The buildings in the main camp were better than the houses that most people had at that time. I’ll bet that none of the soldiers in the Red Army had seen double-paned windows before. The photos taken shortly after the liberation show that the prisoners were in good condition.
