“scuppering” …. the new word of the day …. as in “fresh evidence of mass graves at Treblinka, scuppering the claims of Holocaust deniers”

I read this headline today in the Mail Online, a British newspaper:

British archaeologist destroys Holocaust deniers’ argument with mass grave find at Treblinka

The lead of the story is this quote:  “A British forensic archaeologist has unearthed fresh evidence to prove the existence of mass graves at the Nazi death camp Treblinka – scuppering the claims of Holocaust deniers who say it was merely a transit camp.”

I had a third-grade teacher who taught me to look up every word, that I didn’t know the meaning of, in the dictionary.  So I went directly to an online dictionary and learned that “scuppering” can be used to mean destroy or ruin.  I think a better word might be “demolish.”  But have the arguments of the Holocaust deniers been “scuppered?”  I don’t think so.

The spot where Jews disembarked from the trains to Treblinka

A lot of good comments about this subject have been posted on my previous blog about the “fresh evidence” at Treblinka here.

This article in the Mail Online states that “a lack of physical evidence in the area has been exploited by Holocaust deniers.”  The whole article seems to me to be gloating over the scuppering of Holocaust deniers, instead of just giving the facts, as a newspaper article should.

Kalman Taigman is mentioned in the Mail Online article as “Survivor Kalman Taigman”  I googled Kalman Taigman and learned that there is a documentary about him and another survivor.

This quote is from a website that gives a synopsis of  the documentary:

The journey of 88 year old Samuel Wilinberg and Kalman Taigman two complete opposite personalities who happen to be the last two survivors of the Treblinka death camp. The film follows the two men as they walk back on the grounds from which they fled 68 years ago. For the first time they go back together possibly for their last visit there. Together they re-live, reminisce, laugh, cry, and even sing the Treblinka anthem. Kalman lost his mother in Treblinka, Samuel lost his two sisters. “God wasn’t present in Treblinka” they both agree on while they are there.

The Mail Online article ends with this quote:

Beginning in March 1942, the SS implemented Sonderaktion 1005 to cover up the murder of millions of people during Aktion Reinhard.

There (sic) actions were so comprehensive that ever since the end of the Second World War, Holocaust deniers have used the site as evidence of misinformation about Nazi genocide.

They claim the site was merely a transit camp – a myth now debunked by the latest discoveries of mass graves.

Memorial stones for the Jews who were sent to Treblinka from Poland and Czechoslovakia

The photo below shows the stone for the city of Sandomierz which is in the section that is farthest from the memorial tombstone. Note the many small stones that have no names. They represent the many villages in Poland where all Jewish life was extinguished in the Holocaust.

Memorial stones for the Jews who were sent to Treblinka

  1. I don’t understand why anyone believes that Treblinka was a ‘transit’ camp. Treblinka was one of first and the most notorious death camps. Treblinka was ‘inefficient’ in that there was no ‘organisation’ of disposing of dead bodies at an efficient rate equal to that of the executions and deaths that persisted on a daily basis, hence the first commandant was dismissed from his post and replaced and, a newer, more efficient alternative was searched for and found in the creation of Auschwitz and Zyclon B, with the additional improvement of ovens to burn bodies.

  2. no, probably not in large transports, but after their ‘re-education’ they may have been. but they were certainly persecuted. FACT.

    • Homosexuality was a criminal offence in the UK until 1967 (22 years after Hitler was dead). We offered one of our greatest war heros the choice of imprisonment or effective chemical castration for the crime of having homosexual sex. FACT.

      • That’s terrible. Thank you for sharing that important bit of information BR.

  3. 100% agree with you, these are victims, often innocent. No doubt, and they should be mourned and remembered just as much as the Jews, Roma, Homosexuals etc etc countless victims of the nazis, including the German people.

Now, what makes you say the “allied-jewish fiannced bombings” what exactly are you talking about, what is a Jewish financed bomb? You have a paranoid delusion about a world conspiracy yeah? and 911 was an “inside job” and 6M Jews were killed in WW2 so that movies could be made and some books written to discredit the German people and keep them subjugated? Modern day Germany is practically a super power of democracy and freedom. Intelligent thought process, for someone with a mental illness. NEXT…

  4. Including Germans? Yes Alan show us some empathy for the 600.000 germans burned alive in the allied-jewish fiannced bombings, the etnic cleansing of german Poland and Russia, the hundreds of thousands of raped and murdered german women in Germany heimat by Russian and US soldiers, the 9.500 and 4.500 female children and injured soldier passengers of the Gustolf and Steuben boats sank by the russians, the poisoned and lynched german POW by jewish sonderkommandos, the 1.800.000 POW starved to death by french-british-us command, the million POW dissappeared in Russian goulags, the missing hundred of thousands Volksdeutschen from Lituania, Tchechslovakia, White Russia, Oekrainia etc etc And you know what, we have pictures and videos plenty of killed, raped and burned germans! It is even on Youtube. We even have mass graves with 25.0000 bones or more.. How it hat for a change compared to ground disturbances… Next!

    • Over 1m Germans were executed during the period 1937-1945; for being political and in opposition to Hitler and the third reich and in their resistance to anti-jewish measures which were brought out in the racial laws put into practice from the Nuremburg laws in 1933 – my respect is and always will be with those brave individuals. Wolf you are absolutely right. It is documented, but not discussed, that allied soldiers, Russian and US did rape women as they freed Europe from the grips of Nazi control – a sad fact but true. Have a look at the book ‘Liberation’ by William I Hitchcock – there is an excellent bibliography in this book also and I have gleaned much information from the books in the bibliography. It’s also true to say however, and ironically, that in spite of the treatment of the Jewish communities by the German and Austrian people, that the Germans were treated much better than all the other countries that were also liberated. The Dutch in particular were the last to be liberated, ringed by German soldiers, who were making their last stand against the allied, many Dutch starved to death because of lack of food that the German soldiers took from the population for their own needs. Indeed, the allies made a deal with the Germans that ships would be allowed passage to Holland due to the men, women and children starving to death on the streets, and a cease-fire was called whilst these ships dropped off essential foods for the population.

The problem here Wolf is that Hitler and his henchmen were killing not only Jews but Germans too. Are you surprised that the world didn’t particularly look too kindly on any German during this period of time? We sit here on hindsight and discuss the rights and wrongs of everything, however, everything is so much clearer on hindsight isn’t it?

I have a book here that was gifted to me by a Polish guy. It was printed in 1936 – before World War Two; it was a reprint, as instructed by Hitler, of German hegemony in Europe. It is written in German. It was looted from an SS officers house across from the main junction of the new ‘railway junctions’ between Krakow and the Auschwitz main camps, Birkenau I and II, by the factories and one of the sub camps. It is enlightening. The map shows exactly what Hitler intended by living space in the East. He didn’t only murder 6m jews, but it is documented that a further 6m Gypsies, Russians and other non-Aryans were murdered by the same method.

Let’s not forget that over 50m people died in this war Wolf; all because Hitler the Meglomaniac wanted to dominate Europe – the real perpetrator in all of this is German might. The victims in the whole of this period were not only the Jewish population that were exterminated, but the innocent by-standers – the public, the ordinary soldier (regardless of whether they were British, German, US, Italian, whatever religious or non-religious creed). There were no winners in this war – there are never winners in any war, but the German meglomaniacs had to be stopped.

  5. Alan, nice to have you back, can you answer my points in latest two blog posts here? I looking forward to your answers.

  6. This is a very informative post. It’s good that you know so much about the English language and thanks for clearing up the semantics. You have completely FAILED to impart any shred of evidence that activities at Treblinka were not consistent with a death camp and the liquidation of the Warsaw ghetto and a lot more. You have, in fact, solidified the evidence. Your weak argument is invalid. I hope that one day you have an experience that will grant you the opportunity to understand and have empathy for the victims of the Nazis, including Germans, Jews and many others….Next.

    • I don’t understand why you continue to read my blog, since you think that I have FAILED completely and that everything that I write is “invalid.” Your comments have upset me to the point where I am banning you from commenting here. There will be no “Next” time for you. Sorry, but this blog does not allow hateful comments. You have also upset others who have requested that you be banned.

      • I am posting Alan’s final parting shot, after he was banned from commenting here:

Begin quote (Alan’s final comment which I deleted)

I see, so if I challenge you, and you fail to convince me, then you have a problem with me posting here? That makes sense. I like “hanging out here” and I learn a lot during the process of vetting your arguments. I have been polite, and respectful to your “upset others” but the things they write have made me sometimes upset too, but I wouldn’t expect you to ban them. You should not be afraid of me or ban me. I am mealy adding my opinion to your blog and you should be grateful that I spend as much time as I do. You should tell your complaintents to man up, and not be so sensitive. You can’t kill off free speech any more…and I know you’re
not particularly worried about me are you furtherglory?

My IT friends want to take your blog down, and I have been adamant that they must NOT attempt to do so under any circumstances, I believe you have every right to post what you do, as long as you give the community the opportunity to reply and argue, or else this is not an open intelligent forum, in that case you should be shut down…but not by me.

Please also understand, not everything you write is invalid. Just some of it. Please don’t misunderstand. I’m NOT here to troll but to offer an alternative viewpoint. If you can’t handle that, if I have threatened the very fabric of your conscience to the point where you need to ostracise me, well so be it, but there will be others like me to take my place…and you’ll have to live with the idea that you bullied me out, rather than argued your case satisfactorily.
        End quote
