Mossad opens its archive on the capture of Adolf Eichmann

Filed under: Germany, Holocaust, World War II — Tags: , — furtherglory @ 11:16 am

Today I read in the Daily Mail online the news that the Mossad has opened its archive on the capture of Adolf Eichmann.  The Daily Mail explains that Eichmann was the Nazi in charge of Hitler’s plan to kill Europe’s Jews.  The news article in the Daily Mail is all about the capture of Eichmann with the details of how it was handled.  There are no details about the crimes committed by Eichmann; this quote is all the information provided:

Eichmann was in charge of implementing Adolf Hitler’s ‘Final Solution’, the plan to exterminate the Jews of Europe. Six million Jews were killed by the Nazis and their collaborators during World War II.

Eichmann was in charge of implementing Hitler’s plan?  What does that mean? Notice the use of the word “exterminate,” instead of the words “murder” or “kill.”  How do you say “exterminate” in German?  I don’t know, but both Hitler and Himmler were fond of the word “ausrotten,” which they both used in their speeches when they spoke of getting rid of the Jews.  Ausrotten is now defined by Holocaustians as meaning “to exterminate” when it is used in connection with the Holocaust.

Regarding the “extermination” of the Jews, we have to go back in time, to 1937, when Adolf Eichmann, along with his superior officer Herbert Hagen, was sent to Palestine, which was a British mandate at that time.  Eichmann’s assignment was to look into the possibility of sending the Jews in Germany to Palestine. They landed in Haifa, but were only given a transit visa. They went to Cairo where they met with a member of the Haganah.

Eichmann and Hagen were unable to meet with Arab leaders regarding the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine.  However, Hitler managed to sneak some German Jews into Palestine in what is known as “The Transfer Agreement.”

After Kristallnacht in November 1938, Eichmann was appointed by Heinrich Himmler to form the “Central Office for Jewish Emigration” in Austria, which had been annexed into the Greater German Reich after the Anschluss in March 1938.  In only eight months, 45,000 Jews were expelled from Austria. In eighteen months, there were 150,000 Jews  (60% of the Austrian Jewish population) expelled under the authority of Adolf Eichmann.

Eichmann was assisted in the expulsion of the Jews from Austria by Erich Rajakowitsch, a lawyer who came up with the idea of setting up a “fund of emigration,” with money given by the more affluent Jews to enable the poorest Jews to pay for their expulsion. One of the first steps, taken by Eichmann, was to free the Jewish leaders and then to convince them to cooperate in organizing the mass expulsion from Austria.

In 1939, Eichmann was promoted to SS Hauptsturmführer; he returned to Berlin after the formation of  RSHA (Reich Main Security Office), which united under one administration the various police and intelligence organizations:  SD , Gestapo , etc.. In December 1939, Eichmann was appointed the head of the RSHA Referat IV B4, the section of RSHA which dealt with “Jewish affairs and evacuation.”

In August 1940, Eichmann published the Reichssicherheitshauptamt: Madagaskar Projekt which was the plan for the deportation of the entire Jewish population of Europe to the French island of Madagascar. At that time, he was promoted to the rank of SS Hauptsturmführer; a year later he was promoted to Obersturmbannführer.  The Madagaskar plan had been started by the Polish government and it was taken over by the Hitler after the defeat of Poland.  Unfortunately, the plan came to naught.

On January 20, 1942, Eichmann attended the Wannsee Conference, the meeting where “The Final Solution of the Jewish Question” was planned. It was after the Wannsee Conference that Eichmann was appointed the director of transportation, responsible for all trains carrying Jews to the camps in what is now Poland.

In 1944, Eichmann was given the job of organizing the deportation of the Hungarian Jews.  In only 10 weeks, beginning in May 1944, over 400,000 Hungarian Jews were sent to Auschwitz and gassed. At Eichmann’s trial in Israel, there were 100 Holocaust survivors who testified about the crimes of Eichmann, the “Mastermind of the Holocaust.”

However, while the gassing of the Jews was in progress at Auschwitz, Eichmann was negotiating with Rudolf Kastner, the head of a Jewish organization.  As a result, around 1,700 Hungarian Jews were allowed to escape to Switzerland.   You can read about the negotiations to save the Hungarian Jews on my website here.

After Adolf Eichmann was captured by Mossad operatives in Argentina, he was taken to Israel to face trial in an Israeli court on 15 criminal charges, including Crimes against Humanity. He was found guilty and executed by hanging in 1962.

The following is a quote from the Judgment handed down at the Nuremberg IMT:

German missions were sent to such satellite countries as Hungary and Bulgaria, to arrange for the shipment of Jews to extermination camps and it is known that by the end of 1944, 400,000 Jews from Hungary had been murdered at Auschwitz. Evidence has also been given of the evacuation of 110,000 Jews from part of Romania for “liquidation.” Adolf Eichmann, who had been put in charge of this programme by Hitler, has estimated that the policy pursued resulted in the killing of 6,000,000 Jews, of which 4,000,000 were killed in the extermination institutions.

Adolf Eichmann did not testify at the Nuremberg IMT. The Judgment at Nuremberg, with regard to the killing of 6 million Jews in the Holocaust, was mostly based on hearsay testimony given in an affidavit, dated 26 November 1945, by former SS officer Wilhelm Höttl. Höttl stated that Adolf Eichmann, the head of the Jewish section of the Reich Security Main Office (RSHA), had told him in August 1944 that four million Jews had been killed in the extermination camps, and another two million had been killed by the Einsatzgruppen on the Eastern front. After the German surrender in May 1945, Höttl had been recruited to work with American intelligence.

Rudolf Höss also mentioned in his sworn affidavit, entered into the proceedings at the Nuremberg IMT, that he had personally received an order from Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, the SS general in charge of all the concentration camps, to exterminate the Jews who were deported to Auschwitz.

Höss wrote in his autobiography that Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler ordered the extermination of all the Jews in the summer of 1941, six months before the Final Solution was planned at the Wannsee Conference on January 20, 1942.

The following quote is from the autobiography of Höss:

The sub-section (of RSHA) concerned with the Jews, controlled by Eichmann and Gunther, had no doubts about its objective. In accordance with the orders given by the Reichsführer SS in the summer of 1941, all Jews were to be exterminated. The Reich Security Head Office raised the strongest objections when the Reichsführer SS, on (Oswald) Pohl’s suggestion, directed that the able-bodied Jews were to be sorted out from the rest.

In an appendix to his autobiography, written in January and February 1947 while he was in prison in Poland, there is a statement made by Höss at a later date and typewritten by someone else. The following is a quote from a typewritten statement taken from Höss:

In the summer of 1941, I cannot remember the exact date, I was suddenly summoned to the Reichsführer SS, directly by his adjutant’s office. Contrary to his usual custom, Himmler received me without his adjutant being present and said in effect:

“The Führer has ordered that the Jewish question be solved once and for all and that we, the SS, are to implement that order. […] I have now decided to entrust this task to you. […] You will learn further details from Sturmbannführer Eichmann of the Reich Security Head Office who will call on you in the immediate future.”

[…]

“The Jews are the sworn enemies of the German people and must be eradicated. Every Jew that we can lay our hands on is to be destroyed now during the war, without exception. If we cannot now obliterate the biological basis of Jewry, the Jews will one day destroy the German people.”

  3. FG.
The German word for “Extermination” would be “Vernichtung”, thus “Extermination Camps” were called “Vernichtungslager”. Nothing to do with murder, however the act that did take place, without any legal precedent, in all German texts is Mord, which means Murder was carried out.
The expression “ausrotten” was often used when it came to the Jewish question for effective use in Propaganda Speeches and would be applied in normal conversation to a creeping disease, may it be in plant, animal or human that has to be removed or treated to avoid further contamination.

I can highly recommend Klaus Polkehn’s truly fascinating 1976 paper “The Secret Contacts: Zionism and Nazi Germany, 1933-1941,” learnt far more in there than I did reading Edwin Black’s or either of Lenni Brenner’s books on Nazi Zionist collaboration.

Polkehn’s states Israel was the only place Eichmann could be tried, where Zionists could ensure his dealings with Zionists wouldn’t get raised.

Eichmann said in his famous pre-captured interview which appeared in Life Magazine, that had he been caught after the war, he would have called Zionist rabbi Leo Baeck, head of B’nai B’rith in Germany, as a defence witness!

From Polkehn paper (it cost me $20, but I copied it to a pdf, it’s only 30 pages long, worth printing off and keeping)

“Feivel Polkes, the Haganah commander, went out of his way to help in the development of
cooperation between Zionists and fascists; he even extended an invitation to Eichmann to
visit Palestine as guest of the Haganah. Six noted: “In the work of making contacts, the
name of SS-Hauptscharfuehrer Eichmann of Department II-112 comes to mind before
any other. He had talks with Polkes during the latter’s stay in Berlin and he was invited
by him to visit the Jewish colonies in Palestine under his guidance.”

    • Is it true that the three judges in the Eichmann case were men who had been sneaked into Palestine in the Transfer Agreement? I read that somewhere, but I can’t remember where.

  5. Rezso Kasztner was a lawyer and journalist originally from Cluj, on the Transylvania border. He later became a leader of the small Zionist rescue group, Va’adat Ezrah Vehatzalah (Vaada), or Aid and Rescue Committee, in Budapest during World War II. Part of his involvement with the organization was to negotiate with senior SS officer, Adolf Eichmann, to arrange the release of Hungarian Jews to Switzerland. His trainload of 1,700 people was delivered out of Budapest. The group was held hostage for months in a concentration camp, Bergen Belsen, before finally being freed. Historians as well believe that partially because of Kasztner’s negotiations tens of thousands of other Jews were sent to a labor camp of Strasshof and saved from death in Auschwitz.
During the last days of the war on the orders of Himmmler Kasztner rode with SS Standartenführer (colonel) Kurt Becher who was Commissar of all German concentration camps, and Chief of the Economic Department of the SS Command in Hungary during the German occupation in 1944, halting the liquidations in the death camps of Theresienstadt and Mauthausen. – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_Kasztner

Anyone who has scratched the surface of Holocaust gruelpropaganda concurs that there’s something really fishy about the Eichmann trial aside from the fact it began as an exrajudicial kidnapping. Killing Kasztner is must see documentary for skeptics because it provides an inside look at contemporary Israelis fighting amongst themselves over which story lines will be used to stoke their nationalism. Katzner’s unrepentant assassin is interviewed and he’s an chilling piece of work if ever there was one.
