Holocaust survivor was saved by an African-American soldier who rode through the gate of the camp on a tank…

Filed under: Buchenwald, Germany, Holocaust — Tags: , — furtherglory @ 12:49 pm

According to a Canadian newspaper article, which you can read in full here, Czechoslovakian Holocaust survivor Max Eisnen was on the “Tour for Humanity” bus tour in Canada, which was sponsored by “The Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies.”

This quote is from the newspaper article:

The Tour for Humanity visited Belleville for three days, visiting Harry J Clarke Public School, Quinte Secondary School and Loyalist College this past week to provide staff and students a unique educational experience.

The tour bus is a self-contained, technologically advanced educational centre that offers visual presentations detailing Canadian history, including the history of Aboriginal residential schools and the treatment of Japanese Canadians during the Second World War. At Loyalist College, Czechoslovakian Holocaust survivor Max Eisnen was also on hand to give a presentation on his experiences and to answer questions from students.

This quote from the Belleville newspaper article tells about Max Eisnen’s Holocaust experience:

[Max], his father and his uncle were sent [from Auschwitz] to a work camp where they worked 12 hours a day while being fed just 300 calories. After a supervisor noticed the three men eating together at lunch one day, Eisen was separated from his father and uncle, also to never see them again. He would later learn they had been chosen to undergo medical experiments for major German pharmaceutical companies. Eisen himself would only escape the gas chambers [at the work camp] by what he described as “luck,” when a Polish doctor took pity on the teenager and made him a medical assistant.

With the war winding down and the Nazi’s facing certain defeat, Eisen recalled the day he was set free [from a concentration camp]. One day he said, the guards at his new compound [probably Buchenwald] were gone, and in through the gate came an American tank with an African American soldier riding on top.

Why do I think that the camp, which was mentioned in this news story, was probably Buchenwald?

The gatehouse at Buchenwald

The gatehouse at Buchenwald

The gate into the Buchenwald camp, which is shown in the photo above, was not big enough for a tank to drive into the camp. Notice that the clock on the top of the gate is stopped at 3:15 p.m., the exact time that the prisoners took control of the camp, and the guards escaped in fear for their lives.

Buchenwald was liberated by white soldiers, riding on an armored tank, but a few days after the camp had been liberated, some African-American soldiers arrived, delivering some supplies to the camp. Max Eisen must have put these two stories together to come up with his story of being liberated by African-American soldiers.

I wrote about the liberation of the Buchenwald camp on this page of my website:

I wrote about the African-American soldiers who came to Buchenwald at

This quote, regarding the liberation of Buchenwald is from my website:

The Buchenwald concentration camp was liberated on April 11, 1945 by four soldiers in the Sixth Armored Division of the US Third Army, commanded by General George S. Patton. Just before the Americans arrived, the camp had already been taken over by the Communist prisoners who had killed some of the guards and forced the rest to flee into the nearby woods.

Pfc. James Hoyt was driving the M8 armoured vehicle which brought Capt. Frederic Keffer, Tech. Sgt. Herbert Gottschalk and Sgt. Harry Ward to the Buchenwald camp that day.

The following quote is from a CNN news story on the occasion of the death of James Hoyt on August 14, 2008 at the age of 83:

“According to military records, Keffer was the officer in command of the six-wheeled armored vehicle that day. The soldiers were part of the Army’s 6th Armored Division near the camp when about 15 SS troopers were captured. It was mid-afternoon.”

Is anyone else, besides me, bothered by Holocaust survivors telling lies to young students?  There ought to be a law against this. I suggest 5 years in prison, no matter how old the “survivor” is.

  1. Telling lies to young children? You sound like some damned liberal. Look moron ! The Jews suffered enough with what that “little girl” (hitler) put them through. Obfuscation probably runs amuck in the memory banks of the Jews that survived the death camps. That wasn’t the summer home in the Hamptons for the Jews ,my idiot friend. Have you ever seen battle you moron ? I have. 2 tours Southeast Asia . Guess what? Juxtapose me with this survivor. Guess what slick? You’ll see that our lives,on a “good day” were capricious beyond the scope of human understanding. The human mind has lots of “fail safe ” devices built in to it. With that being said,it’s quite possible the jew in question may have remembered that particular day,the way his mind wanted to. I don’t see where there were any other high points in that persons life. It’s happened to me. I’ve recalled a couple scenarios from my tours overseas, that weren’t quite accurate. Reason being is because the actual truth was more than my sub conscience wished to give me access to. Do us a favor. Shut your piehole. You come up with one explination that you think is the only explination . Get your crayons and paper and go sit I. The corner idiot.

    • The last line in your comment is “The corner idiot.” Is that your name?

  2. “Is anyone else, besides me, bothered by Holocaust survivors telling lies to young students?”

Yes indeed. They are being wheeled out in their droves now.

In the past when TV, radio and the press were under complete control there was no need for this. However, since the freedom of the internet, and therefore hardly any control, these ‘survivors’ are needed to counter what is obviously considered a serious threat to the official version of events.

Interesting how all these survivors’ accounts are told on both sides of the Atlantic to schoolchildren, an easily brainwashed group of people most likely to be ‘surfing on the net’

  3. OT,

Nice color pictures of Dachau in 1950 by Hugo Jaeger, Hitler’s Personal Photographer.

    • One of the photos shows the little windows on the wall of the Dachau gas chamber. So these windows were there in 1950. Too bad Hitler’s photographer didn’t go to the Dachau camp before 1950 and take a photo of that wall.

    • One of Jaeger’s 1950 pictures displays a big hole in the ceiling of the “gas chamber” ( It seems that the fake plaster ceiling which the Americans arranged after they captured the camp was already falling apart 5 years later. What’s your opinion about that? Can traces of repair be seen in the ceiling today?

And interestingly, the hole in the interior wall between the alleged “Zyklon-B chutes” was nowhere to be seen in Jaeger’s 1950 picture. Peephole or ventilation hole, it seems that smaller hole was never completed by the guys who forged that room after WW2.

      • I looked at all my photos of the Dachau gas chamber and found a photo which shows the same area of the ceiling that is shown in the 1950 photo. My photo of the east wall of the gas chamber, where the little windows are located, shows that there were no large holes in the ceiling in 2001. You can see my photo on this page of my website:

        • I had already seen your picture showing the same area of the ceiling. Don’t you find it’s interesting the American-made plaster ceiling in that room was already started to break in 1950? Wouldn’t it be very ironic if a picture taken by one of Hitler’s photographers 5 years after WW2 could help to put a definitive end to the myth of the Dachau “gas chamber”?

If you go to Dachau again, don’t forget to punch the ceiling and then take pictures of the hole in the ‘Holocaust pasteboard decor’ built by American propagandists at Dachau. 😉

Sitting next to him was an ethnic minority teenage single mother transgender homosexual lesbian who had a socially persecuted deprived upbringing

  5. Eugen Kogon in his book DER SS STAAT – The SS state – at pag 357 of 1947 print offers following account of April 11 1945 events: … aT 10,30 a,m. First Camp superviser informed 1 Camp Elder that the Camp will be handed over … As about one and a hlf hour llater by loudespeacker all SS men had to reach suddenly <> … After a short time later the SS men went leaving the Camp Only the guards staying on the towers hold their positios wich they left at about 3 p.m. towards the nearby wood and the comrades of the Camp Order Group suddenly occupied the towers and the Entrance where they placed a whithefllag. In these condition had been the Camp at the arrival of the first USA tanks.” No mention of SS men killed by inmates or so. Readers ought to have understanding the a starving inmates has not the exact recordsd of things. All the faultfinders fail to consider how records go more and more confused with forthcomiing age. And what exact data have You about the race of the first soldiers reaching Buchenwald, or had been a racial distinction records in USA Army too?

    • “And what exact data have You about the race of the first soldiers reaching Buchenwald, or had been a racial distinction records in USA Army too?”

Of course there was a racial distinction in U.S. army. There were Black units (led by White officers) and White units. Mixed-race units are only for today’s Hollywood movies about WW2.

    • On the morning of April 12, 1945, soldiers of the 80th Infantry Division arrived in the nearby town of Weimar and found it deserted except for some of the liberated prisoners roaming around.

Edward R. Murrow arrived in Weimar on April 12th, the day after the camp had been liberated; he reported in his famous radio broadcast from Buchenwald that the liberated prisoners were hunting down the SS soldiers, who had escaped from the camp the day before, and killing them while the Americans watched.

Robert Abzug wrote the following in his book “Inside the Vicious Heart”:

“The Americans were met [at Buchenwald] by reasonably healthy looking, armed prisoners ready to help administer distribution of food, clothing, and medical care. These same prisoners, an International Committee with the Communist underground leader Hans Eiden at its head, seemed to have perfect control over their fellow inmates.”

      • The version broadcasted by E.R.Murrov about liberated prisoniers hounting down the SS men is absurd and only product of the so called “journalisitic technique”. Indeed, as mentioned above, the SS men had been ordered to reach their “new service posts outside the camp”. So they left the camp bearing thier weapons!! Then, a bit later, the guards posted on the towers left in direction of the nearby wood, obviously wearing their weapons. The journalistic scoope of the careless E.R.Murrow offered Himmler a good pretext to refuse the handing over of other concentration camps and one ought towonder about the dead toll of last camp inmates due to that damned “journalistic scoop”! A shame for USA journalistic and historian classes!

        • Regarding Himmler having “a good pretext to refuse the handing over of other concentration camps,” I blogged about Himmler and his alleged order to kill all the prisoners at Dachau in this blog post:

I blogged about Edward R. Murrow’s broadcast on this blog post:

In my blog post about Edward R. Murrow, I did not include this statement, which is on this page of my scrapbookpages website:

          Begin quote:
In his introductory remarks, Murrow said that as he approached the camp, he saw about 100 men dressed in civilian clothes with rifles. There were a few shots and when he stopped to inquire, he was told that the prisoners “had some SS men cornered.” Later in the broadcast, he mentioned that French prisoners had shot 3 of the SS soldiers who had been guarding the camp, and had taken one prisoner.
          End quote

Eugen Kogon was biased against the Nazis because he was a Socialist who was the enemy of the Nazis. He was arrested several times because of his Resistance activities against the German government. His report on Buchenwald cannot be regarded as the truth.

          Comment by furtherglory — March 22, 2014 @ 7:07 am

          • Eugen Kogon had been n Austrian wright wing Chatolic wrtier and journalist and among the first arrested by the Nazis in March 1938. He is the aputhor of the first scientifically valid description of the Concentration Camp System in the III Reich. It should be important to learn more about carelless statements about SS men hunted and killed by prisoniers and its effetcts on the INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS efforts.

            • I blogged about the atrocities committed at Buchenwald on this blog post:

The Buchenwald prisoners put up exhibits for the people from Weimar who were forced, at gunpoint, to march 5 miles to the camp to see the evidence of atrocities. Buchenwald was one of the two main camps for Resistance fighters, aka illegal combatants. These prisoners had a motive to lie about Buchenwald. Eugen Kogon was a prisoner at Buchenwald because he was arrested as “an enemy of the state,” aka a member of the resistance who opposed the German government.

              Comment by furtherglory — March 22, 2014 @ 12:14 pm

              • What reason would have had Buchenwald inmates to lie about that Concentration Camp conditions? Do you know the work of Eugen Kogon, an austrian right wing catholic nationalist-? I find that in USA in general and on this blog especially there is a heavy fault finding attitude. The is a lack of understanding for the specail conditions of Concentration Camp and Ghetho inmated after liberation queswtioned like in Court in order to prove theam to be unreliable withnesses. It is quite dioffocult to resist whren quesationed by journalists of so called historians who want to have the confirm of their own opinions or want to have a journalisitic scoop. Furthermore there is also the languadge problem as USA journalists and historians have no kowledge of German, especially they do not know the special nazi way of expression. A that time SS Captain explained: For your sale we will not learn German like Goethe. Clear?

                • “What reason would have had Buchenwald inmates to lie about that Concentration Camp conditions? ”

Because they had been imprisoned by the Nazis (sometimes for years)? Why would Communists lie about Nazis? Hmmm.

A better question is: For what reason would Buchenwald inmates have told the truth about their ideological enemies’ concentration camps?
