Kurt Gerstein and Heinrich Himmler both “allegedly” committed suicide

Waffen-SS officer Kurt Gerstein

According to Wikipedia, “Kurt Gerstein (11 August 1905 – 25 July 1945) was a German SS officer and member of the Institute for Hygiene of the Waffen-SS. He witnessed mass murders in the Nazi extermination camps Belzec and Treblinka. […] In 1945, following his surrender, he wrote the Gerstein Report covering his experience of the Holocaust. He died, an alleged suicide, while in French custody.”

Strangely, Heinrich Himmler also committed suicide while in Allied custody. This saved the Allies the trouble of putting these men on trial at the Nuremberg International Military Tribunal.  However, the Gerstein Report, written in French, was entered into the IMT as evidence of Nazi war crimes.

I mentioned Kurt Gerstein very briefly in a previous post about Belzec, one of the Nazi “extermination camps” where Gerstein claimed to have witnessed the gassing of the Jews.

Some Holocaust deniers claim that the Gerstein Report is a forgery. I am suspicious of his report myself.  Why did he write it in French, when his native language was German? Oh, wait a  minute — he was in French custody at the time, so of course, he wrote it in French.

Gerstein was responsible for delivering Zyklon-B to the camps because he was “a member of the Institute for Hygiene of the Waffen-SS” according to Wikipedia. Gerstein was a highly educated man — why didn’t he know that Zyklon-B was being used to disinfect clothing to prevent typhus?  Why would he think that the Jews were being sent to some God-forsaken place to be killed with lice poison?  Allegedly, the Nazis used Carbon Dioxide to kill the Jews at Belzec. He must have known that the Zyklon-B was being used for disinfection.

Today, I was browsing through the Inconvenient History website when I read the following quote about Gerstein:

Because of his position in the Hygiene Institute and his expert knowledge of decontamination techniques, Gerstein was called upon to assist in the implementation of the “Final Solution.” He was responsible for the delivery of large quantities of Zyklon B to Auschwitz and other camps. He also was invited to inspect the Aktion Reinhard killing center at Belzec, where the SS staff used carbon monoxide gas in the gas chambers to murder prisoners. On this occasion, in August 1942, he observed a mass killing of Jews at Belzec.

In his postwar confession, Gerstein recorded what he saw at Belzec in great detail. He described the process by which trainloads of Jews entered the camp; their possessions were taken and their hair shorn. They were made to undress and crowd into a chamber (designed to look like a shower-room) so tightly they could not fall as they suffocated. Gerstein took no satisfaction in this process. He later maintained to friends that this experience made him determined to inform the world of the horrors taking place in the killing centers. He also claimed to friends during the war that he had, on at least one occasion, failed to deliver a shipment of Zyklon B gas and instead disposed of it.

Among the contacts Gerstein hoped would spread word of what he had witnessed were Swedish diplomat Baron von Otter, the papal nuncio in Berlin (Father Cesare Orsenigo), numerous members of the Confessing and Lutheran churches, and opponents of the Nazi regime. As he told those who would listen, he dreamed that the Allies would drop pamphlets across Germany; the pamphlets would inform people about what was really happening and thereby prompt the public to demand that the murder cease. Despite Gerstein’s efforts, those dreams never became reality.

By April 1945, the destruction of the Third Reich was imminent. Gerstein turned himself in to French authorities in the town of Reutlingen. In his statement, he declared that he had surrendered to make available his knowledge to punish those responsible for the atrocities. Ironically, however, Gerstein became not a witness but a suspect. At the end of May 1945, he was moved from a hotel where he had been staying under semi-house arrest to the jail in Konstanz and later to Cherche-Midi Prison in Paris. In Paris, he drafted his final statement, now known as the Gerstein Report. In this report, he recounted all that he had seen during his service with the SS. It was here he described his experience at Belzec and his conversations with von Otter and other foreign officials.
In his statement, Gerstein sought to deflect suspicion from himself as a Nazi offender. Whether it was the nature of the accusations against him, the profound distress of failing to slow the implementation of the “Final Solution,” or his fear of being convicted for his SS role, Gerstein hanged himself in July 1945.

Women who were selected to work at Belzec

The photo above, which was taken at the Belzec extermination camp, shows women who have been selected to sort the clothing, taken from the prisoners at Belzec. The clothing was sent back to Germany, along with the lice, because the Zyklon-B that Kurt Gerstein delivered to the camp was used to murder the Jews, not to kill the lice, according to the Holocaust True Believers.

You can read about how 600,000 Jews were killed at Belzec, along with hundreds of Gypsies, on this website: http://www.jewishgen.org/forgottencamps/camps/belzeceng.html

This website http://www.aish.com/jw/s/Belzec-The-Forgotten-Camp.html  claims that ONE MILLION Jews were killed in only 9 months at Belzec, which was staffed by only 12 SS men.

  1. Gerstein seems to have been a very odd chap whose behaviour indicates that he wasn’t quite right. Often in trouble pre war he then decided to join the SS! He apparently met a Swedish envoy to Berlin on a train in 1942 and told him about what he alleged was happening in Belzec. However, the information was not passed on to the Allies or to any other party.
I wonder what really happened during this conversation ?? I suspect the Swedish envoy either never met Gerstein or the conversation was not as claimed in the confession.

  2. The name of British agent who arranged murder of Heinrich Himmler was Robert Bruce-Lockhart. There is an old post on this blog with supporting documents.

  3. The Gestein report had been written in French in order that it could be forwarder to the Allied Government. A well educated German certainly know French sufficiently. I thought since I work on historical analisys that a perrson like Gerstein had been “suicieded” but by fellow ex SS who, even after the surrender, could reach persons already in allied custody which had not been carefull enough. As to the sucicide of Himmler he from autumn 1943 (!) tought that the USA would be ready to accept the “service” of the entire SS, under his command, in view of the conflict with URSS. He placed his close aide SS General Wolff in Italy to with the task to contact the Vatican and then Allen Dulless. In September 1944 we had been aproached by former Swiss President Jean Marie Mussy and in March 1945 by Folke Bernadotte. He did not realize that his person was simply unbearable even when the CIA – and not only – accepted to put former SS Officer at its own service. So Himmler, whem surrending, realized to be wanted only for triali and so he bitted the hand of the doctor who wanted to search his mouth and swallowred the ciancaly phial. Himmler thought to use the SS as a middle age “soldier comapny” which chamged masters as he could not tell appart the Middle Age and the XX Century conditions. This is my opinion,

    • There were strong rumours right after the unconditional surrender by Germany, that negotiation were going on to continue fighting in the East, for ideological reasons, with the help of the Allies. General Jodl hoped to limit the terms of German surrender to only those forces still fighting the Western Allies. But General Dwight Eisenhower demanded complete surrender of all German forces, those fighting in the East as well as in the West. If this demand was not met, Eisenhower was prepared to seal off the Western front, preventing Germans from fleeing to the West in order to surrender, thereby leaving them in the hands of the enveloping Soviet forces.
Himmler never committed suicidede, he was killed by British Agents

          Himmlers Death
Himmler was searched and two cyanide phials were found on him and removed. It is said that as an Army doctor was about to give Himmler a more thorough examination, he bit on a cyanide capsule embedded in one of his teeth and died as a result.
However, research done by Martin Allen questions this traditional story. He claims that Himmler was killed by British Intelligence to stop any chance of his inter-war peace dealings with the Allies from being made public. These covert dealings started in 1943 – at a time when publically the Allies were calling for the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany. Any revelations about clandestine peace deals with one of the most notorious men in Nazi Germany, would have been highly embarrassing for the British government.

    • You wrote: “The Gerstein report had been written in French in order that it could be forwarded to the Allied Government.” In those days, German was the second language of the world. There was a saying that “If you can speak German, you can go anywhere in the world and be understood.” Especially in America, German was spoken by many people. In Germany, the second language at that time might have been French, not English, but that was not the case in America.

Himmler allegedly had a vial of poison hidden in a tooth. I don’t think that this is true, because Himmler was very proud of the fact that he had no cavities in his teeth. He had no hole in his teeth where he could have hidden a vial of poison. Besides, Himmler would not have expected to be killed when he was caught. The Allies wanted to kill him, so that they could tell lies about the Germans.

      • In diplomacy a those time the standard lamguadge had been French. German had been a must in Eastern Europe and not only for educated persons. So who wanted to inform foreign powers about event occuring had to write in French when not knowing already English. Hitler, Goebbels, Himmler and some others following German myhts considered the suicide the only possible exit. As I note from Your reply they could so creat a mini mythologie.

According to the Holocaust Believers, at Belzec and the other Reinhardt camps, Jews were killed with carbon monoxide from engines of Soviet tanks, not with Zyklon B. They used to say that the Nazis killed with Diesel engines of T-34 tanks. Now they claim the Nazis in fact killed with gasoline engines.

And sending some clothes to Germany didn’t imply that the owners of those clothes were dead. Many Germans had lost everything during Allied bombings. Not suprising or suspicious the Nazis decided to take the clothes and other belongings which were in the suitcases of the deported Jews in order to send those things to the Germans who had lost everything under Allied bombs.

Furtherglory wrote: “Some Holocaust deniers claim that the Gerstein Report is a forgery. I am suspicious of his report myself. ”

A mining engineer as Gerstein talking about Diesel gas chambers was at best a good joke, at worst a gross forgery. Mining machines have (and already had at that time) Diesel engines because it is (and already was at that time) known that Diesel fumes are pretty inocuous (nearly CO-free) (accute toxicity), except on the long term (chronic toxicity) because of particulate matters (lung cancer). A few years ago, the U.S. EPA experimented the accute toxicity of Diesel exhaust on human beings with a sample of sensitive persons. That experiment caused a scandal in America, but it failed to kill or even hurt seriously any of the sensitive human Guinea pigs tested by the EPA, so proving once again that Diesel exhaust is totally inappropriate and impractical for murders or suicides.

Another funny part of Gerstein’s ‘testimony’ is the part where he described the gassing that he had allegedly seen at Belzec. Gerstein supposedly wrote that the engine first didn’t work and had to be repaired. That took, he wrote, around one hour to repair it, a long time more than enough to asphyxiate all the people crowded in an air-tight room as a gas chamber should necessarily have been. So Gerstein allegedly witnessed to the gassing of dead people.😉

    • When I wrote my blog post about Gerstein, I actually wrote that the clothing was sent back to Germany because the Germans had no clothes because of the bombing. Then I deleted that part because the bombing had not wiped out cities in Germany in 1942. However, late in the war and after the war, the German people were destitute and many were homeless. The houses that were left, after the bombing, were filled with two or more families. Clothing was in short supply because the factories had been bombed. I was in Germany in 1957, and even then, 12 years after the end of the war, the German people were extremely poor, and many were begging on the streets.

No need to wipe out entire cities to create herds of homeless people who had lost everything. Churchill ordered to target German residential areas on his first day as Britain’s Prime Minister (1940). Hitler repeatedly exhorted Churchill to stop his crazy war on women and children for weeks before realizing it was useless and ordering retaliatory bombings on British civilians, as wanted by the mad Prime Minister of Great Britain. Hitler’s response to Churchill’s madness (i.e. German retaliatory bombings) gave Churchill food for intensive anti-German propaganda (the micro-bombing on Coventry is still propagandized today) and made him capable to unleash his full power for the annihilation of German civilians. So there were of course herds of homeless Germans long before 1944 and the last phase of Churchill’s aerial germanocide.

        • When I went to Germany in 1995, I was very impressed with how the Germans were rebuilding their cities. The people seemed to be making a point of dressing in nice clothes to show show that they were doing well. There were no beggars on the street, except for the Gypsies, of course.

The biggest difference, between the Germans in 1957 and 1995, was that they absolutely refused to talk about the Jews, or about the war. I deduced that they were afraid to say anything for fear of being put into prison for Holocaust denial. Every German that I spoke with could speak perfect English with an American accent. I was mistaken for a German many times because I spoke American English.

  5. The standard narrative says that Himmler called a halt to the extermination program in late 1944. I guess Gerstein didn’t get the word.

    • The Belzec camp was operating for 9 months in 1942. Himmler allegedly stopped the extermination at Auschwitz in late 1944, but other camps continued to murder the Jews. In the very last days of the war, Jews from the Bergen-Belsen exchange camp were put on three trains, bound for Theresienstadt, where the Nazis had just set up new gas chambers.

    • The Gerstein report had been wirtten in 1942 (!) in order to be forwarded to Allied Powers who – let us say – could not care less. English became.the “must” after the war time occupation by Allied Forces, so in Germany as in other western countries. In 1957 former SS or Police men or Party officials had good reasons to refuse to speack about events and Jews. In 1995, the mew generations had not sufficient knoledge of history..

It’s true that the American and British propaganda services are known for not using food for their own wartime atrocity propaganda when they can. Be serious. You’re living in a dream. If the Allies didn’t use Gerstein’s crazy allegations in 1942, it’s because they didn’t want to ridicule themselves. Otherwise, be sure they would have used that precious gift for their anti-German wartime atrocity propaganda on and on.

Roosevelt and Churchill were surrounded by Jews. Claiming those Jew-lovers didn’t care about Europe’s Jews is just ridiculous. Utter nonsense.

…and of the subtleties of wartime atrocity propaganda. That’s why the Holohoax could be sold so easily from the late 1970’s to now.
