Most Israelis are not Holocaust survivors, nor children of survivors

The title of my blog post today is a quote from a recent news article.

This quote is from the article:

Most Israelis are not Holocaust survivors or children of survivors. The majority are immigrants, or the children of immigrants, from Arab or African countries. Their relatives were not gassed in Auschwitz.
Netanyahu occasionally invokes aspects of the Holocaust – typically to contrast the self-sufficiency of Israel with the helplessness of Europe’s Jews under Hitler.

But there is another aspect of the Holocaust that Netanyahu has publicly cited, which is quite germane to understanding the Israeli election results. In his address to the 2012 American Israel Public Affairs Committee policy conference in Washington, he held up a letter written by a Franklin D. Roosevelt administration official in 1944, rejecting a request by Jewish leaders to bomb Auschwitz or the railway lines leading to it. The decision to cite that historical episode does not mean Israel’s prime minister is somehow “traumatized” by “Holocaust rage.” Indeed, President Obama commented at the time, “I am deeply mindful of the historical precedents that weigh on any prime minister of Israel when they think about the potential threats to Israel and the Jewish homeland.”

It is precisely the Allies’ abandonment of Europe’s Jews that many Israelis today regard as relevant to their situation. Israelis do not imagine themselves as comparable to captives being herded into gas chambers. But they have a legitimate concern that the international community could abandon Israel in some future hour of need.

So where DO the survivors of the Holocaust live?  Probably, most of them live in America, Canada and Germany.

I wrote about the Jews flocking back to Germany on this previous blog post: https://furtherglory.wordpress.com/2014/10/13/jews-flocking-back-to-germany/

This website http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Holocaust-survivors-plead-Help-us-hold-Passover-Seder-395280 tells about the Holocaust survivors in Israel who need money and donations in order to hold the Passover Seder.

The news article, cited above, says that 50,000 Holocaust survivors in Israel are living in poverty. So which is it? Are there Holocaust survivors in Israel or not? And why can’t the Jews in Israel take care of their own people?

This quote is from the news article:

The Jews now have their own country, thanks to Hitler and the Transfer Agreement, but they can’t take care of their own people, and need constant donations from other countries.

You can read about the Transfer Agreement on my blog here:

Update at 11 a.m. today:

In other news about Israel, on this website, you can read this quote:

Israel is a state armed with nuclear weapons and in the grip of a siege mentality due to the collective trauma of the Jewish people that has never been healed. What makes this siege mentality dangerous and pathological is that it prevents Israel from recognizing how its own actions have contributed to the despair, rage, and continuing resistance of the Palestinian people and to its own growing Isolation in the world. There is a sickness rampant in Israeli society whereby most Israelis see themselves as the ultimate victim, an innocent victim in a world that hates them and wants to annihilate them. This then leads to a sense of pathological entitlement whereby because they believe they have been perpetually wronged and abused, they may act with impunity to do whatever they want to secure their own safety, regardless of how it harms or wrongs others.

  1. Many thousands of Jews post war who found themselves as displaced persons went to live in the US, England, Canada, Australia, Argentina, South Africa basically wherever the next ship was going. I have said this before but throughout my school, university and professional life here in England I have constantly met children and then adults who had one parent who was a Jewish ” survivor” ; the children of such mix marriages were brought up as Church of England. The mystery of the missing will be found partly there.

  2. No gentile aside from Walter Sanning http://en.metapedia.org/wiki/Walter_Sanning has ever really looked closely at Jewish demographics as they relate to the Holocaust. Two Canadian Jews, Yoseef Grodinsky (IN THE SHADOW OF THE HOLOCAUST) and Eric Koch (DEEMED SUSPECT) have written about Jewish refugee immigration to Israel and Canada. SAFE AMONG THE GERMANS by Ruth Gay, REFUGEES AND RESCUE -The Diaries and Papers of James G. McDonald 1935-1945 edited by Richart Breitman etc., FROM CATASTROPHE TO POWER by Idith Zertal and WALACHIAN YEARS by Bernard Politzer are also books about the Jewish exodus from Europe by predominantly Jewish author’s. Everytime I read another story about the tragic voyage of the St. Louis, that ship that wasn’t allowed unload it’s cargo of Jewish refugees in Havana, I want to tear what’s left of my hair out because I know Jews were pouring into the USA before, during and especially after WWII. They were entering from Cuba, South America, Mexico and Canada illegally and legally. Lyndon Johnson, a junior senator at that time, was clandestinely issuing passports to Jews in Europe out of his office in Texas. Sure, he was “rescuing” them, but Johnson never did any favors for free so we can assume he was getting a kickback on each passport he approved. He probably wasn’t the only one in govt who was doing this, either. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Texas

  3. “The majority are immigrants, or the children of immigrants, from Arab or African countries.” And many of this majority are Holocaust survivors, because the Jews in European colonies in Arab and Muslim territories also suffered during the Shoah, the Jewish Holocaust.

Vichy France collaborated with Nazi Germany and persecuted Jews in its French colonies in Africa; the Jews of Nazi-occupied Vichy-Tunisia (more than 85,000) were persecuted by Nazi Germany during 6 months; the Jews of Italian Libya also were persecuted and deported to Bergen-Belsen and Auschwitz.

  4. Israel is not the “light unto nations” it advertises itself as. It is the “victim nation” that forever subjects the peoples of other nations (starting with Germany and Austria) to its importunings for “guilt gelt,” the while also arguing for absolution for the depredations it subjects its neighbors (and subject “aliens”) to.

Such chutzpah seems almost proprietary to the people who once spoke the language from which that term comes. That the rest of us fall for it is captured by the term “ignorant gullibility.”

    • I think that the German word for money is Geld, although it is pronounced, in German, more like “gelt.” Geld is pronounced with a hard G in German, not like the G in the English word George.

  5. I almost forgot. I’m addition to my previous comments, damn near every black I’ve ever known can’t say anything about their African roots if anything. I would see the kids running around back in the 80’s wearing tshirts with the continent of Africa on it. I would ask what part their family came from. They would shrug their shoulders and say,” I don’t know”. Kind of along the same lines as the Jews in the article here.

  6. Holocaust and slavery are 2 dark points in world history. All the same though, both parties are riding this cash cow all the way to the bank. I’m not gonna mention civil rights here because slavery is a different topic. Some people think Lincoln offered to send slaves back to Africa . Actually,Monroe sent some back. Along the same lines some Jews were allowed to leave Germany for the right price. I’m totally for sure how this went but a ship carrying 700 or so Jews landed in Havana . They were supposed to have American visas there. Cuba told them to get lost. At the beginning of the century we had immigrants from all over roll through Ellis island. Couldn’t do that with those Jews ? Instead they were told to wait in Cuba . We didn’t come up with the idea of slavery. Hell, cleopatra enslaved her own people. We didn’t come up with the idea of slavery here either. That was pure happenstance. A Dutch slave ship landed here and traded slaves for supplies at the ships chandler. 2 slaves that were of nobility back in Africa were slaves here. They escaped twice and were caught twice. Third time is the proverbial “charm”. They got back home. What did they do back there. They worked with slavers pointing out where they could find slaves. WW2. Jews in other countries were rolling on their fellow Jews . Giving them up to the nazis. Bottom line people want to wag fingers at us for slavery and wag them at the nazis for the holocaust. People that are doing that need to look within their own ranks if they want to see the guilty parties. The Jews are still milking money from Germany and the blacks from America . It was sometime back in the mid to late 80’s a black rights group sued a railroad company, because they were using slave labor. They won. Both groups are still playing the race/sympathy card. It was horrible what happened in both cases, but I’ve nothing to feel guilty about. I guess it’s ,”welcome to the world. Here nobody is loved.”
