20th anniversary of Schindler’s List

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — furtherglory @ 9:12 am

I have seen the movie Schindler’s List several times, both in a movie theater and on TV, and I have also read the book several times. This morning, I read this news article about the anniversary of Schinder’s List.

oskar-schindler-on-arrival-at-lydda-airport-israel The following caption is on the photo above:

Photo : Keystone/Getty Images) Hundreds of Jews and their families turned out at Lydda Airport, Israel to welcome Oscar Schindler (1908 – 1974), a Sudeten-born German, of Frankfurt, who is said to have been responsible for saving 11,100 Jews from the Nazi persecutions during World War II. He employed the Jews in a factory he operated at Zabiceczech, near Cracow, and although often questioned by the occupation forces, always averted danger by exploiting personal contacts. He was brought to Israel as a guest of the government to take part in the ceremony of planting the first saplings in the 8th Avenue of Righteous Gentiles to commemorate non-Jews who helped Jews against the Nazis during the war.

Note that the article says that Schindler saved 11,100 Jews. I will have to correct my previous blog posts, where I wrote that Schlindler saved 1,200 Jews.

I have written several blog posts about Schinder’s List:

Schindler’s List, the movie, is FICTION, FICTION, FICTION!!!

Schindler’s List, the movie, is FICTION, FICTION, FICTION!!! (part 2)

Did Oskar Schindler save 1,200 Jews from “certain death?”

New book by Leon Leyson, the youngest survivor on Schindler’s List

The news article mentions Amon Goeth’s half black granddaughter. I wrote about her in this blog post:

Granddaughter of Amon Goeth, the Schindler’s List balcony sniper, publishes her memoir

  2. In the photo he looks to have applied some red lipstick. He obviously enjoyed the limelight ! a character similar to the very theatrical and rather ” camp ” Denis Avey who changed places with a Jew at Auschwitz and is Britain’s only living ” Hero of the Holocaust” .

    • So you’ve missed the shower scene. Don’t miss it next time! Spielberg got his ass kicked (softly) for that stuff, for having converted a Nazi gas chamber into an infamous shower room with warm water coming out of the shower heads instead of poison gas… 😉

      • I’ve never seen the whole movie, but did he actually do that? That don’t make sense. If you’re gonna try to have an accurate accounting of this story, why would someone want to do anything to put the nazis in the”well these guys didn’t seem too bad” category. I guess I shouldn’t expect to much from people that can’t even perform simple math equations. You remember, they said the number of jews killed was only 1 million instead of 3 million, yet the total number of jews killed still sits at 6 million.

        • I think Spielberg did that in order to avoid other ‘mistakes’ (plain lies) similar to his Birkenau flaming chimneys (based on witness testimonies but impossible in the real world unless the whole crematoria was on fire). Not showing any gassing in his movie protected the Holohoax from its own inconsistencies and technical absurdities. Viewers’ imagination was enough to do the job. They had already seen enough Zionist martyrology in the rest of Spielberg’s piece of atrocity propaganda anyway.

              • Thanks for putting up this youtube video.
I wrote about the shower room on my website at
                http://www.scrapbookpages.com/AuschwitzScrapbook/Tour/Birkenau/ZentraleSauna.html

On the page of my website, cited above, I show a photo of the shower room. There is one wall in the shower room that is an entire wall of windows. When the shower scene first starts in the movie, you can see windows that look exactly like the windows in my photo, although the entire wall of windows is not shown. Only half of the wall of windows is shown.

The Schindler’s List shower scene shows shower heads hanging down from the ceiling. The shower heads are now gone, but I think that the shower heads were on the wall of the shower room. In any case, I think that the shower scene shows too much water and the water is coming out too fast.

                • In this picture of a shower room at Birkenau (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/e5/7b/da/e57bda8a957979e19be94dc8b81cc9c3.jpg), one can see shower heads hanging down from the ceiling. But was that the same shower room?

(How can I insert pictures in my comments?)

                • The photo in the link that you included is not the shower room in the Sauna. The shower room in the Sauna was only for women.

In the shower scene in Shindler’s List, as the women exit the shower room, they look across the road and see prisoners descending the steps into the undressing room of one of the two large gas chambers at Auschwitz-Birkenau. This is a small mistake in the film. The gas chamber that was across the road from the Sauna was Krema IV, which had no underground rooms.

Sorry, but I don’t know how to insert a photo into a comment.

                • They had a “sauna”? Geez o Petes, this place sounds almost as good as Club Med. I mean I’m finding out some of the locations had real live showers. Now I find out some had saunas.

                • The “Sauna” was a nickname for the building where the clothes were disinfected. I wrote about it on this blog post: https://furtherglory.wordpress.com/2010/08/31/why-was-there-a-sauna-at-auschwitz/

                • If they hate jews as bad as history said they do, why would they give two shits if they were infested or not. I’m at the point to where I say,” some of this is clearly BS. Let’s file it with Bigfoot and UFO sightings.” I didn’t mention Elvis sightings, because he works at Taco Johns up in town. Yeah. That’s the one Howard Hughes owns.

      • My bad. If the jews are gonna see us food,we’re gonna have to be jew food. Thank God I didn’t say chopped pork.

    • The Nazis needed the disinfecting rooms to prevent the spread of typhus. This did not always work, all of the camps suffered outbreaks of typhus. It affected the inmates but also the guards caught it as well. Typhus is spread by lice, ticks and fleas and is especially prevalent in over crowded conditions, like the camps and ghettos. It’s easily treated today but if left untreated the death rate can fluctuate anywhere from 10-60%.
