I’m not blogging today…

I am taking a day off from blogging because there has been a death in the family.

I was planning to blog about Withold Pilecki.  You can read about him at http://www.businessinsider.com.au/the-story-of-witold-pilecki-the-man-who-volunteered-for-auschwitz-to-expose-the-holocaust-2015-9

Feel free to discuss Withold Pilecki.

There is a lot of controversy about the will that was made out by my family member.  My advice to all my readers is that you should go to a competent lawyer, who specializes in drawing up wills. You might be tempted to go to Legal Zoom to do your will, but this could cause a lot of trouble.  It will cost you some money to go to a good lawyer, but in my humble opinion, it is worth it.

The above article contains information about Pilecki. My only real objection is that the article states that when Pilecki went to Auschwitz in 1940 it was believed that Auschwitz was a labor camp, not a death camp.
Auschwitz was not a death camp in 1940, it was very much a regular concentration camp structured on the model of older concentration camps in Germany. It remained that way until the influx of Soviet POWs in September of 1941. Formal gassing did not start until the Summer of 1942.
By all accounts Pilecki was a brave man, a patriot who eventually gave his life for Poland.
Curious to see if anyone has anything negative to say about him.

  2. After reading the article quoted I feel that this person had been executed exactly for having informed the Nationalist Polish Resistance about things going on at Auschwitz. The article does not inform the reader about the date he and two fellows managed to escape, who the other two has been and in which were direction. Indeed there had been a claim that in August 1943 some one escaped from Auschwitz should have reached Theresienstadt in order to allarm inmates. As matter of facts just at the end of August 1943 a well known chech nationalist – a former officer – had been searched, put on arrest and sent to Auschwitz with the transports of following September. I would apreciate any helpfull further information. –

I have blogged about the fate of Withold Pilecki September 10th 2012 from a primary source, but found no evidence that an escapee was meant to reach Theresienstadt.
My Post is rather lengthly, but if you are interested you can study additional information under ‘DachauKZ blogspo.com: Auschwitz The Powerful and the Helples’. Just scroll down and you will find it at the very end.
Trust this is satisfactory to you
