Famous photo of the little boy with his hands up, in the Warsaw ghetto

Today, I was doing some research about gun control in Nazi Germany when I read Wikipedia’s page about the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. On this page, Wikipedia uses the famous photo of the “little boy with his hands up.”

Famous photo that was allegedly taken in the Warsaw ghetto uprising

The photo, shown above, is very controversial; I blogged about it at

https://furtherglory.wordpress.com/2010/03/10/controversial-photo-from-warsaw-ghetto/

and again at

https://furtherglory.wordpress.com/2015/06/05/photo-of-the-little-boy-with-his-hands-up-the-rest-of-the-story/

Some of the new people who have joined the discussions on my blog might want to weigh in on this controversy.

Here is my last word on the subject:  Wikipedia should not put controversial photos on its pages.  This irritates people, especially me.

The photo below would be much better.  The caption on the photo is “German soldiers lead Jews captured during the Warsaw ghetto uprising to the assembly point for deportation. Poland, May 1943”

  1. I think that the above photo shows a Deportation before the uprising of the Warshaw Ghetto. Indeed, the few survivor managed to flee in some way. Those who did not manage to flee had been shot at once on the place. So I learnt. At any rate we have few reliable information about the Warshaw Ghetto uprising.

  2. It’s a powerful photo.
From what I can tell from your previous posts, either the photo is incorrectly attributed to the Ghetto Uprising or the person claiming to be the little boy in the photo is lying.
My inclination is to think the person claiming to be the boy in the photo is lying.
However it would not be the first time that a photo was used incorrectly, an example of this is using starving prisoners in the camps after liberation as an example of the Holocaust.

    • I agree with you that the man who claimed to be the little boy in the photo was lying. I wrote about this in this blog post: https://furtherglory.wordpress.com/2015/06/05/photo-of-the-little-boy-with-his-hands-up-the-rest-of-the-story/

    • HCW: “My inclination is to think the person claiming to be the boy in the photo is lying.”

What is the basis of your inclination? Except, of course, because you don’t like having to drop a powerful photo such as that one…😉

      • I also believe that the man who claims to be the little boy with his hands up is lying. I first wrote about this on this blog post 5 years ago: https://furtherglory.wordpress.com/2010/03/10/controversial-photo-from-warsaw-ghetto/

      • So, you are ok with armed soldiers pointing guns at children? That’s what makes powerful, Hermie. The image of a child having a gun pointed at him makes one sit up. Does a child deserve to have a gun pointed in his direction? What crime is that child accused of, other than being a Jew? Is that child a threat?
My inclination is based on I don’t think that child survived. Because the big, bad Nazis thought he was a threat. Brave political warriors pointing guns at children, it’s vomit inducing.
I’m a father, Hermie. This isn’t some bullshit joust you and I are having over Fred Leuchter’s qualifications. Real people died, including children. All because adults thought they were a threat.

        • Old enough to steal, old enough to be arrested and driven to a police station at gunpoint…

Emotional bullyings don’t work on me. Sorry.

Cry me a river and get your balls back afterwards.

          • Ordinarily Hermie I take what you say fairly well. After all, I understand you are a deluded, Zionist obsessed, Hitler lover who misses the fact he couldn’t live during the Third Reich and bask in Hitler’s presence. You hate Jews for some reason I can’t understand so it probably makes you happy to see Jewish children with their hands up in front of those brave German men. Talk about lacking balls, apparently the men with the guns apparently couldn’t hack the Eastern front so Himmler sent them to arrest women and children.
But then, that would be you if you had a choice. Somehow I think you would have jumped at the chance to point a machine gun at Jewish women and children.
So, in the end I guess I pity you. You didn’t have your chance, you missed it by 70 years or so, now all you have left is your daydreams and your fantasies of Jewish domination and Zionists boogeymen.
Sorry, friend. At least I have the humanity to look at a picture and sympathize with the victims. The little boy in the picture? He’s not the only child in the picture. There’s an even younger child to the left. He also has his hands up and he looks even more frightened.
You don’t see that because you only identify with the monstrous regime that would put children in that position.
            So, keep daydreaming Hermie.

            • You seem to believe that the Jews were hated for no reason in Germany. You believe that Hitler hated Jews because he was mentally ill. Go to this web page which explains why Hitler hated the Jews: http://www.realjewnews.com/?p=412

There was a reason that the German people wanted the Jews out of Germany. This was not the first time that Jews were kicked out of a country. This happened hundreds of times. Yet, the Jews are never blamed for their actions.

              • When have I ever said that Hitler was mentally ill?
Recently I had a conversation at work with someone who said Hitler was “crazy.” I told her that Hitler was not crazy, at least not in the beginning. Perhaps at the end of the war he became unhinged but certainly not before that.
To Hitler, the ends justified any means. In this way he was no different that Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, etc.
To these men their goals were all important and never mind the human cost. So I get Hitler and no, I would never say he was crazy. His anti-Semetism is understandable because of the time he lived in, anti-Semetism was rampant in Europe at that time. He caused the deaths of millions but so did Stalin, Mao, etc.
I find all of those regimes repugnant because they had no regard for human life. The difference? Stalin and Mao never paid for their crimes.
I’ve asked you this before, are you saying Hitler was justified in some way massacring millions of men, women and children? Not just Jews but the handicapped, the Roma, etc?

Hitler didn’t cause the death of millions. Blaming all the deaths of a war on the defeated side is bogus history even if standard procedure. The credit for WW2 should be attributed its real fathers, the Masonic Zio-puppets Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill. They had proclaimed their “rejected coexistence [with Nazi Germany]” (as FDR used to put it) and their will to annihilate Nazi Germany years before the beginning of WW2. Their policies and the ones of their colleagues made WW2 inescapable and unstoppable. But as nobody has ever seen victors blames themselves for any war, I guess we’ll have to go with the distorted narrative of WW2 and its childish lessons for a while further…

                • That’s a fascinating theory about Churchill and FDR, Hermie. The problem is it doesn’t fit the political reality. Churchill was basically washed up, a lone voice in the wilderness when Hitler began making his moves to recover German lost territories. The British Government fell over itself giving Hitler what he wanted until Hitler violated the Munich Pact. It was only then that Churchill entered Chamberlain’s cabinet.
The US was in the depths of a depression and public opinion was firmly against war. FDR wanted war but only got it after Pearl Harbor and Germany’s foolish declaration of war.

Churchill was not “a lone voice in the wilderness”. He was a pawn kept aside for the right moment.

Chamberlain’s cabinet in fact wonderfully played its role – i.e. to appease Hitler’s…fear of a new war against Britain and her powerful American ally.

HCW: “The US was in the depths of a depression and public opinion was firmly against war. FDR wanted war but only got it after Pearl Harbor and Germany’s foolish declaration of war.”

The US public opinion was indeed firmly against a new American involvement in a war on European soil. But FDR had always been in favor of an American war in Europe and he knew how to force such a thing, even if he indeed had hard times with those damn American isolationists. He worked very hard to induce a German or Japanese attack on America and so crush the opposition forces in Congress and American population. Funny to see you mention Pearl Harbor (i.e. Japs sinking U.S. ships moored there) and “Germany’s foolish declaration of war” in the same sentence, as Roosevelt had been sinking and capturing German ships for months when Hitler finally responded Roosevelt’s numerous declarations of war in December 1941.

Living in this world and talking about “fantasies of Jewish domination and Zionists boogeymen” is idiocy or ideological denial.

And there was a world war going on. Children were arrested, imprisoned and executed by all sides. No monstrosity involved in that. Just War Measures.

Not a quote from the movie The Matrix? Sounds like what a guy who loves life in the Matrix would say to someone who have opted for the red pill.

That’s the orthodox narrative of this photo for anyone not having your ‘inclination’ about it. The famous “ghetto boy” in this picture was supposedly a young thief arrested and released later on that day. It seems that YOU are the revisionist on that one…😉

From my own memories. Did I misremember that? A case of fabricated memories? Like a ‘Holocaust survivor’ having escaped gassing(s) by miracle?

                • Perhaps you should try and remember harder. No source I’ve looked indicates the boy was arrested for stealing anything. Though, if he did steal something it was probably food……hopefully from a German.

                • Bradley Smith, the founder of CODOH, once stated he had a dream that he was a Jew dying in a gas chamber. FG blogged about it. Maybe Mr. Smith was a Jew in Poland in another life. That would be ironic.
I think I read somewhere that Mr. Smith is ill. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. If he is ill my best wishes for him and his family and I hope he gets well soon.
