In addition to the Stairs of Death at Maushausen, the Nazis also had another stairs at Fort VII where prisoners had to carry large rocks out of a quarry on a stone carrier like the one shown in the photo below.

Fort VII, officially Konzentrationslager Posen, was a German death camp in Poland during World War II. According to different estimates, between 4,500 and 20,000 people, mostly Poles from Pozen and the surrounding region, died while imprisoned in the death camp.

Behind these gates emblazoned with the symbol of Hitler’s dreaded SS, lies one of the lesser known horrors of the Nazi occupation of Poland – the first use of gas chambers for mass extermination.
Seized by the SS on October 10 1939, the 19th century Fort Colomb in the city of Poznan in west Poland was renamed Konzentrationslager Posen (Concentration Camp Poznan).
But rather than serving as a holding space for prisoners of the Reich, what followed was the systematic murder of psychiatric patients, local resistance fighters, academics, the intelligentsia and anyone seen by the Nazis as a threat.
It wouldn’t be until three years later that the use of gas chambers to eliminate the Jewish population became a Third Reich policy.
But 76 years ago this month, it was decided that Fort VII, as it is known, would be the first place to experiment with gas in the mass killing of civilians.
I suspect that the prisoners at Fort VII were resistance fighters, aka illegal combatants. I doubt that these prisoners were pushed off the stairs to their death. But it makes a good story for Holocaust True Believers.

OT but i dont know if you have read the book called Debating the Holocaust: A New Look At Both Sides by Thomas Darlson (seaching for the book on this blog dont give any results) by i am reading it right now after buying it on Kindle and i found it a great book well worth reading. It is my first holocaust revisionism book i started with and i really enjoy it so far (on chapter 5 now)

In the early 30’s in Germany the Social Democrats were not in power.

By the beginning of the 30’s the successive governments relied heavily on “Article 48” which granted successive chancellors the right to rule through decree, effectively sidelining the Reichstag.

It is true that the Austrian Goverment persecuted the Austrian NAZI party but they also persecuted the Social Semocrat Party as well. The Austrian Goverment during the 30’s was a right wing dictatorship classified as “Clerico-Fascist,” not Social Democratic.

The SPD was a pillar of the “Weimar coalition” entreprise of plunder and subjection of the Austro-German people. The Weimar Republic was a kind of alien government administering the new subjected Mandates of Germany and Austria for the victorious Mandatory Powers of November 1918. The role and function of the Weimar Republic and of its Austrian twin sister was to keep the Austro-German people weak, divided and impotent, accordingly to the will and dictates of the victors of WW1. That’s nice but again, you are not addressing the political reality.
The last Social Democratic government before the rise of Adolph Hitler fell in 1929. They lacked political power, the largest party in the Reichstag was the National Socialists and the fastest rising party was the Communist party. The chancellery was dominated by the conservatives who did make some effort to suppress the Nazis. The biggest opponent of the Nazis was the Communists.
The Social Democrats were a suppressed minority in Austria.

The SPD was still the 2nd largest party in Germany (with 133 seats in July 1932, 121 in November 1932 & 120 in March 1933), behind the Nazi party, until March 1933. Not the tiny insignificant party depicted by yourself. In a global perspective, the SPD was the largest party in the Weirmar Republic, the political incarnation of the Weimar era, the real driver on board. What’s wrong with the most prominent representatives of the Weimar Republic finally getting slapped for their anti-German governance of the previous decades?

The chancellors governed by decree, Hermie. This means the Social Democrats didn’t have the power to oppress any one….never mind the fact that the Nazi party was the largest party in Reichstag.
Did you miss that part?
Bruening, who was not a Social Democrat, banned the SA in April of 1932. I wouldn’t call this oppressive act because he didn’t toss anyone in a concentration camp (not that they existed at this time, it would take Hitler’s rise to power for those to show up in Germany) or in prison. The Nazi party was still free to function (as were the other political parties, it would take Hitler’s rise to power to shut the other parties down, a very oppressive act) and conduct their business in the Reichstag.
So again, how did the Social Democrats oppress the Nazis?

I do hope that Wolf has a look at what I’ve posted. As an Austrian he could probably shed some light on conditions in Austria before 1938.

Stairs are a pain but fortunately the krema 2 gas chamber at Auschwitz was provided with a super reliable lift so that a couple of bodies at a time could be transported to the ovens from the gas chamber . Imagine the problems which would occur if the lift broke or a wire snapped !
A war time lift which always broke down , was apparently at the Vienna flak tower in Vienna according to a guide ; meaning that 100 lb shells needed to be carried manually up 150 feet ! This was performed by young recruits….they should have embroidered the story and said it was done by ” slave labourers ”

I think that the capacity of the ovens was not great enough to handle the bodies of the Jews who were allegedly gassed in Krema II and Krema III. I think that the alleged gas chambers were really rooms to store dead bodies of prisoners who had died of typhus and other causes.

Sloppy story, I hate sensationalist writing. It mixed facts, photos and quotes in a big mess.
Reporters shouldn’t write history, they often don’t know what they are talking about.
The one reporter who wrote well was David Halberstram. I highly recommend “The Coldest Winter,” about the Korean War.
