Another stairs of death used by the Nazis at Fort VII

The headline, quoted below, is from a news article which you can read in full here.

Revealed, the dark history of Hitler’s FIRST death camp: How Nazis murdered psychiatric patients – and their nurses – to test out gas chambers before they were used for mass extermination of the Jews

In addition to the Stairs of Death at Maushausen, the Nazis also had another stairs at Fort VII where prisoners had to carry large rocks out of a quarry on a stone carrier like the one shown in the photo below.

The following information is from Wikipedia:

Fort VII, officially Konzentrationslager Posen, was a German death camp in Poland during World War II.  According to different estimates, between 4,500 and 20,000 people, mostly Poles from Pozen and the surrounding region, died while imprisoned in the death camp.

The following quote is from a news article about Fort VII, which you can read in full here.

Behind these gates emblazoned with the symbol of Hitler’s dreaded SS, lies one of the lesser known horrors of the Nazi occupation of Poland – the first use of gas chambers for mass extermination.

Seized by the SS on October 10 1939, the 19th century Fort Colomb in the city of Poznan in west Poland was renamed Konzentrationslager Posen (Concentration Camp Poznan).

But rather than serving as a holding space for prisoners of the Reich, what followed was the systematic murder of psychiatric patients, local resistance fighters, academics, the intelligentsia and anyone seen by the Nazis as a threat.

It wouldn’t be until three years later that the use of gas chambers to eliminate the Jewish population became a Third Reich policy.

But 76 years ago this month, it was decided that Fort VII, as it is known, would be the first place to experiment with gas in the mass killing of civilians.

I suspect that the prisoners at Fort VII were resistance fighters, aka illegal combatants.  I doubt that these prisoners were pushed off the stairs to their death.  But it makes a good story for Holocaust True Believers.

  1. The Israeli Prime Minister due I believe to be feted again in Berlin this week has committed the greatest crime of the 21 st century and should be charged with Holocaust denial .

    • From the link:

Prime minister tells World Zionist Congress that Hitler only wanted to expel the Jews, but Jerusalem’s Grand Mufti convinced him to exterminate them, a claim that was rejected by most accepted Holocaust scholars.

I wonder what a ‘Holocaust scholar’ does all day.

Anyway, who needs the Gestapo when you have Bild: Darunter druckt das Fachblatt für angewandte Willkommenskultur dann allerlei mehr oder weniger grenzwertige Einträge aus den sozialen Netzwerken samt Namen und Profilbildern ab und fordert in Politruk-Pose, der Staatsanwalt solle gefälligst „übernehmen“. Bild is vetting Facebook and other sites, looking for ‘fremdfeindliche Aussagen’ etc, and then tattling to the prosecutor about it — since Volksverhetzung = inciting racial hatred is a crime.

In other developments in Rechtsstaat Deutschland: Integrationsbeauftragte fordert Pegida-Sonderkommission — an SPD bureacrat who’s responsible for ‘integration’ of sundry foreigners — an impossible task of course, guaranteeing her future employment — wants a ‘special commission’ to investigate members of PEGIDA — to see if they’ve said or done anything naughty. To add insult to injury, her name is Aydan Özoguz — she’s turkish.

      • Yes, thanks for the welcome news. I hope she enjoyed her tea — destroying a nation is hard work, so she needed a break.

In related news: ARD manipulierte Bericht über Lichterkette für Flüchtlinge — state broadcaster ARD, which via GEZ all Germans must now subsidize directly with cash (like the BBC), admits it used film from a 2003 anti-war demo to make it look like more people participated in a recent event for refugees.

Also I feel obliged to inform you that such comments amount to ‘scientific racism’ — for convenience, ‘scientific’ will be dropped, and they will go with ‘racism’ in order to charge you with ‘inciting racial hatred’ — and since you are a ‘Holocaust denier’, the punishment will be doubled. Don’t say you weren’t forewarned.

  3. What gas(es) was (were) supposedly used in the ‘gas chamber’ at Fort VII?

    • Silent death: Once patients were inside the gas chambers (pictured), the doors were sealed with clay and carbon monoxide was pumped in through a hole

    • Hermie:
I wanted to bring this conversation here. We talked about the Social Democrats in Germany before the rise of Hitler.
In the early 30’s in Germany the Social Democrats were not in power.
      http://www.britannica.com/topic/Social-Democratic-Party-of-Germany
They only had 120 seats in the Reichstag.
By the beginning of the 30’s the successive governments relied heavily on “Article 48” which granted successive chancellors the right to rule through decree, effectively sidelining the Reichstag.
Bruening was not a Social Democrat, he was a Catholic Conservative:
      http://www.britannica.com/biography/Heinrich-Bruening
Von Papen was a Conservative Monarchist:
      http://www.britannica.com/biography/Franz-von-Papen
I have no idea what Schleicher was, other than an opportunist:
      http://www.britannica.com/biography/Kurt-von-
      Schleicher
Why do you think the Social Semocrats persecuted the Nazis?
It is true that the Austrian Goverment persecuted the Austrian NAZI party but they also persecuted the Social Semocrat Party as well. The Austrian Goverment during the 30’s was a right wing dictatorship classified as “Clerico-Fascist,” not Social Democratic.

      Comment by HCW — October 20, 2015 @ 4:02 pm

      • The SPD was a pillar of the “Weimar coalition” entreprise of plunder and subjection of the Austro-German people. The Weimar Republic was a kind of alien government administering the new subjected Mandates of Germany and Austria for the victorious Mandatory Powers of November 1918. The role and function of the Weimar Republic and of its Austrian twin sister was to keep the Austro-German people weak, divided and impotent, accordingly to the will and dictates of the victors of WW1. The SPD was a branch of Jewry’s Internationalist domination. The SPD was a deformed offspring of original Socialism, a typical example of Jew-owned errant Socialism, the outcome of actions taken by what Theodor Herzl used to call the “[Jewish] revolutionary proletariat” (i.e. Jews promoting and leading social reforms in order to crush the Gentile social orders detrimental for themselves, by agitating the dissatisfied Gentile proletariat unaware of their real goals and motives).

        • That’s nice but again, you are not addressing the political reality.
The last Social Democratic government before the rise of Adolph Hitler fell in 1929. They lacked political power, the largest party in the Reichstag was the National Socialists and the fastest rising party was the Communist party. The chancellery was dominated by the conservatives who did make some effort to suppress the Nazis. The biggest opponent of the Nazis was the Communists.
The Social Democrats were a suppressed minority in Austria.

          • Every disparity between an argument and your Jewish laughable narrative is “not addressing the political reality”, an abnormal data to dismiss before your washed brain crashes like a computer. Funny. Have a nice sleep…

              • HCW: “Ok, I’m going to go with you don’t know and leave it at that.”

Very rich from a guy whose sole response to my previous comment was “That’s nice but…” 😉

The SPD was still the 2nd largest party in Germany (with 133 seats in July 1932, 121 in November 1932 & 120 in March 1933), behind the Nazi party, until March 1933. Not the tiny insignificant party depicted by yourself. In a global perspective, the SPD was the largest party in the Weirmar Republic, the political incarnation of the Weimar era, the real driver on board. What’s wrong with the most prominent representatives of the Weimar Republic finally getting slapped for their anti-German governance of the previous decades?

                Comment by hermie — October 21, 2015 @ 7:28 pm

                • The chancellors governed by decree, Hermie. This means the Social Democrats didn’t have the power to oppress any one….never mind the fact that the Nazi party was the largest party in Reichstag.
                  Did you miss that part?
Bruening, who was not a Social Democrat, banned the SA in April of 1932. I wouldn’t call this oppressive act because he didn’t toss anyone in a concentration camp (not that they existed at this time, it would take Hitler’s rise to power for those to show up in Germany) or in prison. The Nazi party was still free to function (as were the other political parties, it would take Hitler’s rise to power to shut the other parties down, a very oppressive act) and conduct their business in the Reichstag.
So again, how did the Social Democrats oppress the Nazis?

                  Comment by HCW — October 21, 2015 @ 9:28 pm

                • Yeah, the SPD was a small powerless group of humanists…in your dreams.

[quote]The Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), with its roots in the labouring classes, was the strongest political force from 1919 to 1932. It provided several Chancellors as well as the first President of the Reich, Friedrich Ebert, who served in that office from 1919 to 1925. [/quote] (https://www.bundestag.de/htdocs_e/artandhistory/history/parliamentarism/weimar)

HCW: “he didn’t toss anyone in a concentration camp (not that they existed at this time, it would take Hitler’s rise to power for those to show up in Germany) ”

Concentration camps established by a presidential emergency decree written and enacted by the non-Nazi president of Germany Paul von Hindenburg.

            • I do hope that Wolf has a look at what I’ve posted. As an Austrian he could probably shed some light on conditions in Austria before 1938.
As for the rest of it, well, I’m sure it must be comforting to reduce everything in life to a simple equation. I’ve noticed your default is to hide behind some nebulous Zionist or Jewish plot. You don’t have an answer to what I posted so you revert to type, tossing out meaningless Zionist jibber jabber. Talk about being asleep……..

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself, you know I’m just teasing.
No, I do click the links you post, Hermie. It’s still all gobbledygook to me.
It just seems that all the scenarios are so far fetched. I have a hard time believing in conspiracy theories, it just seems that all of the actors have to play their parts perfectly, the conspirators know exactly how the future is going to work and how nothing can throw a monkey wrench in things.
Life, and frankly people, does not work that way.
But if it comforts you then who am I to say it’s wrong?

I was not referring to the few links I’ve posted on this blog. I was referring to researches by yourself. I’ve often provided you with names, dates and full quotes. Google research what I claim and investigate deeper that topic. What kind of historian are you?

And history, as well as life in general, is full of examples of conspiracies. Human beings plot to reach their goals. That’s just how humans work.

  4. Stairs are a pain but fortunately the krema 2 gas chamber at Auschwitz was provided with a super reliable lift so that a couple of bodies at a time could be transported to the ovens from the gas chamber . Imagine the problems which would occur if the lift broke or a wire snapped !
A war time lift which always broke down , was apparently at the Vienna flak tower in Vienna according to a guide ; meaning that 100 lb shells needed to be carried manually up 150 feet ! This was performed by young recruits….they should have embroidered the story and said it was done by ” slave labourers ”

    • This quote is from my own website; I wrote this about 10 years ago:

      Begin quote
On the ground floor of both crematoria buildings [Krema II and Krema III] were 5 large ovens where the bodies were cremated after being brought up [from the gas chamber] on an elevator. Each of the ovens had 3 openings, called muffles or retorts, which means that there were actually 15 ovens which could each handle up to 3 bodies at a time.

The underground gas chambers in Krema II and Krema III were not directly underneath the oven room, which was the part of the building that was above ground. The gas chamber rooms were covered only by a reinforced concrete roof and a layer of dirt, so that Zyklon-B, which was in the form of pellets, could be poured into the room through holes in the roof.
      End quote

I think that the capacity of the ovens was not great enough to handle the bodies of the Jews who were allegedly gassed in Krema II and Krema III. I think that the alleged gas chambers were really rooms to store dead bodies of prisoners who had died of typhus and other causes.

  5. Blah. The story reads like something from the Enquirer. Looks like a gossip page.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/ushome/index.html

Sloppy story, I hate sensationalist writing. It mixed facts, photos and quotes in a big mess.
Reporters shouldn’t write history, they often don’t know what they are talking about.
The one reporter who wrote well was David Halberstram. I highly recommend “The Coldest Winter,” about the Korean War.

  6. WHY do all those gas chambers have bunches of flowers in them? Something to calm, or honor the victims while they breathed their last? I’m sure it made them feel much better as they expired.

  7. Were they kicked in the face when they got to the top of the stairs? It was only human nature to do that. I mean, everyone would have done it, given the chance.

    • Of course, these poor innocent prisoners were kicked in the face when they reached the top of the stairs. I have added this important information, along with a photo of the top of the stairs.
