German war criminal was stationed on “the path to the gas chamber” at Auschwitz

The following quote is from a news article which you can read in full at http://www.reuters.com/article/us-germany-trial-idUSKCN0W109K

Begin quote:

A 95-year-old former Nazi SS paramedic at the Auschwitz death camp, accused of being an accomplice to the murder of thousands, is to stand trial in Germany on Monday, one in a series of such recent cases.

Hubert Zafke was serving as a medic in the SS at the biggest death camp in occupied Poland where he was deployed in 1943. During the trial, he will be faced with the accounts of at least two witnesses.

Prosecutors in the northern German city of Schwerin say that Zafke, in his function as a medic, supported the slaughter at Auschwitz, where over 1.2 million people, most of them Jews, were killed.

Zafke was responsible for treating SS members in case of sickness, not any of the inmates, but prosecutors say he was stationed directly on the path leading to the gas chambers.

My early morning photo of the SS hospital at Auschwitz and the road that went past it

If Zafke was treating SS members at Auschwitz for sickness, that means that he was stationed at the hospital for SS men at the Auschwitz main camp, which is shown in my 1998 photo above.

Unfortunately, the road to the gas chamber, in the Auschwitz main camp, went right past the hospital where Zafke worked.  Zafke must have known what was going on, and he could have run out of the hospital and stopped the gassing of the Jews, but he didn’t.  So he is a criminal, for sure, and deserves to spend his last years in prison.

Entrance to gas chamber was near the SS hospital

The following quote is at the end of the news article cited above:

Begin quote:

Zafke’s charges focus on a month-long period between August and September 1944, when 14 deportation trains from Poland, Slovenia, Greece, Germany and the Netherlands arrived at the camp.

One carried Anne Frank, the German-born Jewish writer, whose “Diary of a young girl” became one of the most widely known witness accounts of the Holocaust, documenting her life in hiding during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.

Anne Frank and her sister Margot were eventually transferred westwards to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where they died shortly before its liberation in April 1945.

Zafke has already been charged abroad for his role at Auschwitz. In 1946, a Polish court sentenced him to four years in prison. Afterwards, Zafke returned to Germany, where he worked as an agricultural salesman.

End quote

Did you catch that? Zafke was working at the hospital in the main Auschwitz camp on the the day that Anne Frank arrived at the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, which was several miles down the road.

Zafke should have known that Anne Frank was arriving, and he should have had the common decency to run over to the Birkenau camp and say to Dr. Mengele: “What in the hell are you doing?  That young girl is Anne Frank, who will be famous some day. You have to save her!”

  1. When are they going to put the train drivers , and those who typed up the railway timetables on trial ? They were all part of the system after all.
More pertinently when is any lawyer known to fight for justice going to publically point out the vile injustice in the BRD ??
    where is Geoffrey Robertson ?

    FG:
Are you saying in some way that that Mengel treated Anne Frank?
Or, are you saying that Mengele “selected” the group of prisoners that Anne Frank was a part of?

Aren’t you perpetuating what you complain about? That Mengele was everywhere, selecting everyone, treating everyone?

    • I think FG meant for that part to sound “absurd”. Anne Frank showed up. Holy shit ! Stop the presses. Roll out the red carpet. Her royal majesty has arrived. BIG F–KIN DEAL! They want to make it a point to mention her. What about all the rest of the inmates? They’re not as important. What is the relevance,of even mentioning she was there. There was a shitload of other Jews there too. One of them couldn’t be mentioned? God forbid if anyone mentioned that. It might take the spotlight off lil orphan Annie

        • Exactly. Everybody makes her out to be the proverbial “poster child”(literally). That’s why I have to question the sincerity and the Jews with their plight. That’s why I’m like ,”oh,no other Jews lost their lives”. She’s the only child that died. What about when we bombed Dresden. How many children died there? My bad. They weren’t Jews . They don’t matter. Nope. The Jews operate on,give em an inch, they take a mile. Give em a rope they think they’re a cowboy. I get pissed too, because they want all the attention . No other ethnic groups have suffered this fate. I had the privilege of working with the Montagnards a few times when I was in ‘Nam . Damn fine people! These people been there forever. We pull out and along comes Pol Pot. Pulls his cleansing gig. I got a guy who works for me. 100% Mayan. He hauled ass from Guatemala, cause the guy running the show there, hates Mayans. Both groups of these people are in the same boat as the Jews , but they don’t run around crying. I saw something happen in ‘Nam I wish I never saw. For the record I wasn’t part of it. When I got there,it was damn near over. My point there, bad shit happens in every war. General Robert E. Lee put it best. “It is a good thing war is so terrible,or we’d grow fond of it”. The Jews got f–ked. What about the folks of Berlin or Dresdin? See if any of those savage reds that raped and murdered in Berlin are still alive. Put their sorry ass on trial. How about any of our boys on the bomber crews that wiped out Dresden. If their still alive,to the courthouse with their ass. Hey they wanna say the Jews were innocent, fine so were those people. The more I read on this site, the more I question what history has fed us about it. I’m open minded. I listen to both sides here and make up my own mind. It’s when they put Anne Frank on parade,I’ve got to question motives. Hey. People are going to get more infuriated over a child, than an adult. From where I sit, they have any respect for the child they’ll let her rest in peace.

    • I was being sarcastic. You misspelled Mengele, so apparently you are not an expert on this subject.

According to Holocaust True Believers, Dr. Josef Mengele was one of 30 SS officers at Auschwitz-Birkenau, who decided who would live and who would die.

Dr. Mengele arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau in early May 1943, at the time that the second typhus epidemic at Birkenau was just starting. Dr. Mengele himself contracted typhus while he was stationed at Birkenau.

Dr. Mengele was nicknamed the “Angel of Death” by the prisoners because he had the face of an angel, yet he allegedly made selections for the gas chambers at Birkenau. He was nice to the children in the camp, yet he allegedly experimented on them as though they were laboratory rats. He volunteered to do the selections at Birkenau, even when it wasn’t his turn, because he wanted to find subjects for his medical research on genetic conditions and hereditary diseases, which he had already begun before the war. He particularly wanted to find twins for the research that he had started before he was posted to Birkenau.

Dr. Mengele was known by all the prisoners at Birkenau because of his good looks and charm. According to Gerald L. Posner and John Ware, the authors of “Mengele, the Complete Story,” many of the children in the Birkenau camp “adored Mengele” and called him “Uncle Pepi.” This information comes from Vera Alexander, a survivor of Birkenau, who said that Dr. Mengele brought chocolate and the most beautiful clothes for the children, including hair ribbons for the little girls.

      • Oh, well, we all misspell words on occasion.

Mengele sounds like a wonderful person.

Maybe he knew what happened to all of those Hungarian Jews that didn’t die.

After all, Jim doesn’t know. Talbot doesn’t know.

The denier consensus is they didn’t die, but no one knows what happened to them. But, for some odd reason, they have no proof of where they were sent.

        What a pickle.

          • I’m sure Jim and Talbot appreciate your research on this matter.

I accept all of your records of transported Jews without question and will paste this information here:

“only 28,000 Hungarian Jews were registered at Auschwitz-Birkenau, as stated by Franciszek Piper, the former director of the Auschwitz Museum, this means that thousands were transferred from Auschwitz to labor camps without being registered. The prisoners who were gassed were not registered in the camp, and no records were kept on them.

“According to records kept by the Germans at the Dachau concentration camp, between June 18, 1944 and March 9, 1945, a total of 28,838”

So, 28,000 Jews registered at Auschwitz.

We also have 28,838 going to Dachau.

Hungarian Jews were sent from Auschwitz-Birkenau to Dachau and then transferred to Landsberg am Lech to work on construction of underground factories in the eleven Kaufering subcamps of Dachau.

Some of the Jews who were selected for slave labor were sent to the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria and its sub-camps where they worked in German aircraft factories.

Others were sent to the Stutthof camp near Danzig, according to Martin Gilbert, who wrote the following in his book entitled Holocaust:

“On June 17 Veesenmayer telegraphed to Berlin that 340,142 Hungarian Jews had now been deported. A few were relatively fortunate to be selected for the barracks, or even moved out altogether to factories and camps in Germany. On June 19 some 500 Jews, and on June 22 a thousand, were sent to work in factories in the Munich area. […] Ten days later, the first Jews, 2500 women, were deported from Birkenau to Stutthof concentration camp.”

            That’s 3,000 Jews accounted for.

“From Stutthof, they were sent to several hundred factories in the Baltic region. But most Jews sent to Birkenau continued to be gassed.

According to the Museum at the former Theresienstadt ghetto in what is now the Czech Republic, there were 1,150 Hungarian Jews sent to Theresienstadt and 1,138 of them were still there on May 9, 1945 when the camp was liberated by Soviet troops.”

            1150 Jews accounted for.

“Hungarian Jews were also sent to Bergen-Belsen, which was an exchange camp until December 1944. After Hitler himself put pressure on Admiral Horthy to deport the Budapest Jews to Auschwitz, the Hungarian government decided to begin transporting the Budapest Jews on August 25, 1944. According to Yehuda Bauer, the plan was to transport the Jews on 6 trains with 20,000 Jews on each train; the first train was scheduled to leave for Auschwitz on August 27, 1944. However, the deportation plans were stopped when the Hungarian government received a telegram from Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler on August 24th; Himmler ordered the preparations for the deportation of the Budapest Jews to stop.

According to Eberhard Kolb, who wrote a book about the Bergen-Belsen camp, Reichsführer Himmler had already opened a special section at the Bergen-Belsen exchange camp on July 8, 1944, where 1683 Hungarian Jews from Budapest were brought.”

            That’s 1683 Jews accounted for.

The Jews in the Hungarian section were treated better than all the others at Bergen-Belsen. They received better food and medical care and were not required to work. They wore their own clothes, but were required to wear a yellow Star of David patch. The Bergen-Belsen camp had different categories of prisoners, and the Hungarian Jews were in the category of Preferential Jews (Vorzugsjuden) because they were considered desirable for exchange purposes.

The first transport of 318 “exchange Jews” left the Bergen-Belsen Hungarian camp on August 18, 1944, bound for Switzerland. On August 20th, the trainload of Hungarian Jews arrived in Bregenz and then went on to St. Gallen the next day.”

That accounts for about 68,000 Jews.

Naturally, not all of them survived but at least we know that they survived the initial deportation.

See, Jim and Talbot, that’s how you do it.

Now, all you have to do is account for the 300,000 or so not recorded.

I look forward to your replies.

Try applying that on an individual scale in a US court. Think you have evidence to indict, much less convict?

            • But even if we accept that 437,000 Hungarian Jews were transported to Auschwitz over a ten week period, one can’t just say that over 300,000 of them were all “gassed” in totally inadequate facilities described as homicidal chambers. All one can say is that 300,000 are unaccounted for.

The two ruined structures, known as Kremas 2 & 3 that I stood alongside when visiting Birkenau are so small and compact, they can’t possibly have been used for killing this massive number of human beings in such a short space of time, ( And Kremas 4 & 5 are frankly ludicrous as homicidal gas chambers. After studying the blueprints of these facilities, and reading some of the weird descriptions of the so-called “survivors”, one can only assume that these structures had nothing to do with any killing or cremation.)

But even the sheer size of the Birkenau camp itself, nor these inadequately tiny “gas chambers”, could accommodate over 300,000 souls, so logic dictates that we must look elsewhere for what happened to these people. And there is some evidence that in the summer of 1944 Birkenau was being used as a transit stopover for workers who were desperately in war production factories that were being opened up all over Eastern Germany and Poland as the German armies were being forced back out of the Soviet Union.

The H’E.A.R.T. website states;- “In June 1944 in Camp BIIc and on the territory of the as yet uncompleted construction BIII, known to the prisoners as Mexico a transit camp for Jewish women, chiefly from Hungary was organised.”

I suspect that the railway spur was built into Birkenau to facilitate the speeding up of these transiting arrangements – and NOT to bring the alleged victims as close as possible to the “gas chambers” – (that story has simply been invented!). The Germans were crying out for workers in 1944 – so why bring nearly 440,000 people all the way from Hungary to Auschwitz and promptly kill over two thirds of them there – what a waste of resources in the middle of a major war!

No – much more research is required to find out what happened to these 300,000 Jews. The gas chamber scenario is just not viable any more.

You are correct. Auschwitz-Birkenau was a TRANSIT camp as well as a concentration camp. Trains could go from Auschwitz to any place in Europe. The Jews who were sent from Auschwitz to other places were not registered in the camp. This is why True Believers think that the Jews were gassed upon arrival.

But, they had to be registered in the camps that received them because the camp commanders had to account for that labor force.

Nice to see you acknowledge that Birkenau was too small to accommodate this amount of people.

“And there is some evidence that in the summer of 1944 Birkenau was being used as a transit stopover for workers who were desperately in war production factories that were being opened up all over Eastern Germany and Poland as the German armies were being forced back out of the Soviet Union.

                I completely agree.
They only kept the ones they could use, otherwise the others would drag the system down.

Everyone is entitled to believe what they like in a free world – so its good luck to one and all, say I.

                • As far as the gas chambers at Auschwitz are concerned “seeing is unbelieving.” The locations of the gas chambers are all wrong. You don’t have to be an expert to see immediately that the so-called gas chambers were not homicidal gas chambers. However, they did have gas chambers for disinfecting the clothes; these buildings are off limits for tourists.

                • I don’t know if the referee blew his whistle and halted the soccer games while the SS guy was pouring the pellets down the vents of the imaginary gas chamber. If not, then a player might deliberately kick the ball so hard, that it hit him – knock him off balance and send him head first down through the vent into wire-mesh cage below. Oh dear, oh dear! – what would happen then. They couldn’t haul him out by his feet at that stage because the pellets had all been released. So the poor old SS guy would have to stay upside down until the gassing session was over.

                • That’s why this all is so bizarre to me. Okay maybe they weren’t playing the folks headed to the gas house. If hated the Jews as much as everyone said they did,I’m sure their attitude would’ve been,”we’re too good to play soccer with you lower life forms”. It’s like everyone says their motto was something like ,”kill, kill, kill”. If that was truly their attitude, why would they even think about soccer with them. Another thing. If these inmates were in such terrible physical shape, where are they gonna get the energy,to even walk on the soccer field, not to mention they still have the game to play

You know the tests they put them to in the pressure and extremes in temperatures. Things of that nature. I ask because I heard somewhere that the data from those tests, helped us in the field of space travel.

  3. The old rascal behind these ridiculous show trials is an individual named Efrain Zuroff – who describes himself as “the Chief Nazi Hunter” of The Simon Wiesenthal Center. But I was looking at Efraim’s biography on Wikipedia to find out his connection with the so-called “holocaust”. And to my amazement, there is none. Mr Zuroff was born in NewYork in 1948 (you know – in the city that is “so good that they named it twice” – cor!!)

Why he wants to chase after elderly German gentlemen for what they may, or may not have done over 70 years ago is anyone’s guess. The Nazis have been long gone now, and I would have thought that any legitimate and self-respecting legal system would reject these sort of court proceedings completely out of hand ( but not in modern Germany apparently ).

Back during the war years, the unfortunate Jews were forced to wear a yellow star on their clothes; but in Mr Zuroff’s case, it is not a yellow star that is required, but a great big yellow circle painted on the seat of his pants, so that good-hearted citizens everywhere can give him a good kick up the fundament.

  4. I feel sad being about the age of the people involved. We were kids, you know. And the courts will classify us as boys, kids or men – whatsever suits them best and foremost and forever what will do best in the media. Can you believe it? That we watch sick witch hunts going on and NO jurist in the world stands up!

    • That we watch sick witch hunts going on and NO jurist in the world stands up!

Of course you are right: very little is said against these absurd show trials, either inside or outside of Germany — but remember it is a very touchy subject, with legal ramifications — anyone speaking out must be careful to condemn only the legal basis (the current Rechtsauffassung that requires no specific evidence for accessory to murder) or the form of the trial (allowing “survivors” to lash out at the defendant in court) — because the basic tenet that makes an accessory to murder conviction possible is the judicially accepted fact that the ‘Holocaust’ happened — and it is against the law to dispute this in many European countries.

  5. is to stand trial in Germany on Monday

As I mentioned in this comment, you can expect more of these show trials as the more politically inclined amongst the German judicial establishment try to squeeze them in before the BGH likely rules that the Rechtsauffassung re Beihilfe zum Mord that came out of the Demjanjuk trial is invalid. They will all take the same form: the prosecution will present nominal evidence that the accused served the Nazi KZ system in some capacity, eg as a guard, accountant, whatever; the accused will be harangued in court by “survivors”; then the judge will announce a guilty verdict.

I recall reading that during the 2015 trial of Ursula Haverbeck, she asked the judge if he could prove to her that the Nazis tried to exterminate Jews in gas chambers — the judge replied to the effect that ‘he did not have to prove to her that the earth is round’.

This article in German re the verdict against Frau Haverbeck is worth noting:

    Holocaust-Leugnerin Haverbeck verurteilt

The reason it’s worth noting is that it generated many comments, apparently the wrong kind of comments, and so commenting was closed with a note from the editors that begins:

    Liebe Nutzerinnen und Nutzer,

kaum ein anderer historischer Vorgang ist derart gut belegt, untermauert, unterfüttert, erforscht und dokumentiert wie der Holocaust. Es ist daher nicht an uns, in Kommentarspalten Offenkundiges erneut zu beweisen.

Alle Behauptungen und Hinweise darauf, dass es keine seriöse Forschung gebe, dass man Fragen nicht stellen dürfe, usw. sind falsch und hinlägnlich widerlegt.

    —–

    Dear Readers,

Few historical events have been so thoroughly researched and documented (ie and therefore proven) as the ‘Holocaust’. Therefore it is not necessary for us to again prove that the ‘Holocaust’ occurred. Any claims that there has been no serious research, or that one is not allowed to question the ‘Holocaust’, are false and have been definitively refuted.

    —–

Of course the part I highlighted is plainly absurd — Frau Haverbeck was on trial for doing just that — put the German establishment media puts out such absurdities with a straight face — and then they have the nerve to complain about use of the term Lügenpresse.

  6. 2 witnesses is the best the prosecution can do? Yeah I know, better part are old farts now. How long was he stationed there, yet they’re only gonna focus on “one month” period. So that one month period is the only time he saw inmates walk past the infirmary on their way to the gas house. The idiot pollacks sent him to lockdown in ’46 for 4 years. At least the poles did something that made sense. They didn’t dick around like the Jews and wait till this poor slobs almost dead. Why didn’t the hebs nail his ass back then. This is one big pissing contest for the Jews. They wanna make sure ( due to their greed),they don’t have to share the spotlight with anyone else. What a bunch of assholes.

      • No Sabrina. If I have to explain you wouldn’t understand . You gonna pop off with that smart ass comment to anyone else who questions the contents of these blog posts? I’m not gonna myself to you. Talk to Miss Diane. She thought I was racists too. I grew up in the south. 1960 to 1970. I went to ‘Nam after that. The Klan was big at that time. I’ve seen all the racists that one needs see back then. I don’t agree with them. So don’t call me racists. Hey. I don’t give to shits what anyone says. Far as I’m concerned,”antisemite ” is another word for racists. From where I stand, people that hate Jews, because their Jews, are no different than the folks who hate blacks cause they’re black . The ones that hate Hispanics. Because their Spanish. Let me help you out chucklehead. 2 wits. How many years ago. They’re gonna give damning testimony to convict that man? Their memory is that damn good? Don’t hit me up with,”well something that bad is gonna be burned into your memory”. No. Over time some details are gonna be lost. Two wits was all they could find. All of this stuff is like WTF with me. You put an accountant on trial for murder? No these people don’t want any closure. They want this to go on. Like the old adage goes,”you can’t beat a dead horse”. Hey . I’d love to see some of the assholes at the Hanoi Hilton stand trial for how they treated my brother service members. Ain’t gonna happen. However we gotta kiss the ass of all the Dinks ( yeah I called em dinks. I was in country, you weren’t ). We don’t bitch about it,we go on. When I first hit this site I thought,” another Jew hatin website”. After I got to reading it,found out it wasn’t . The shit history has presented us with, don’t quite add up. I’m here trying to figure out what happened. Both sides present their evidence here. Wolf sometimes bring up topics I agree with, sometimes not. Jimbo R. He’ll bring up topics. I may agree,I may not agree. FG brings great articles to the table. The shit gets you to thinkin. Now days the rest of the world don’t want free thinkers on this topic. F–k that ! My right as a human and American to question shit if so desire. If you don’t like what i write, remember that line from the book of Matthew. “If thy eye offends thee, pluck it out and cast it to the side “. Try to ask before you open your piehole and ask me some stupid ass question like that

        Comment by Tim — February 28, 2016 @ 4:44 pm

      • I’ll take that as a yes. I served with ex MACV/SOG guys in Bosnia in the early 90’s Good guys btw.. Frankly I think you are an anti semitic s**t who was a REMF. So some advice – there’s a thing called google where you can look things up – try it before you post your bullshit questions, then we don’t have to waste our lives explaining it to you

        • Look Susie. My question warrant being asked. If you don’t like em,don’t read em. My questions dealt with how they were conducting a trial . Bosnia. Good for you sweetheart. I’m not impressed. Southeast Asia is the asshole of the world . I did my share of long range patrol. We worked with the Yards. Like to see how much your boys from studies and observation group remember what the Yards taught them. Military assistance command had a weed up their ass anyways. I’m really impressed now . Military assistance command Vietnam

          • I do read them and I question them. I don’t actually give a shit whether you are impressed or not – just ask the question from both sides and make up your mind. I won’t match your boys to mine – different war, different time

            Comment by srebrenica — February 28, 2016 @ 5:02 pm

            • Hey Sabrina. You’re the one that bought it up. You’re accusing me of being racists. I don’t give a damn if you like my questions or not. I got Miss Diane on here. That lady reels me in when I go to far. I don’t need your help there. If you don’t like how I questioned that mans “lopsided trial”,then don’t read what I ask. I’m one of the folks who think holo denial laws are BS. So if you don’t like that,I don’t really care

              Comment by Tim — February 28, 2016 @ 6:26 pm

        • MACV in Bosnia? You’re so full of shit. Who exactly? Name some names. Who were you with? Where and when were you there? Or is it “classified”?

              • “Billy Waugh”…lmao. Where’d you find him? Wiki? And if you were CIA, no wonder why we’re fucked wherever those douches deploy.
Still waiting on your unit and time you were “deployed”…

                Comment by Schlageter — February 29, 2016 @ 3:15 am

                • CIA. What a joke. The very name contradicts itself. They didn’t even know Saigon fell, until the NVA were banging on the front door. I would say a first grader has a better grasp of things, but I don’t want to insult the children by puttin them on the same sentence as those idiots from the agency.

                  Comment by Tim — February 29, 2016 @ 8:12 am

          • I was thinkin along the same lines . MACV was a joke. I mean if you got your people criticizing it (Lt. Col. Paul Vann) you know something’s wrong. MACV were damn political jugheads. They were about as bad as the 90 day wonders we had. They thought jungle training at Ft. Polk was gonna be the real deal. No ask Sabrina if she’d ever gotten into any engagements . If so,what happened in his first one. I ain’t gonna lie here,I pissed all over myself. I was starting to regret the fuss I put up so I could be in country. Ask Sabrina if he still carries the ghosts of the men he’s killed ( if he got into a gunfight). Yea the NVA dinks were shootin at me,so I shot back. Only 3 that I know I killed for sure, but I still took another mans life. If Sabrina knows how that feels,I might be able to talk to him. Hell she started off accusing me of being racists. How the hell we got here I don’t know. I think she’s just pissed off, because I’m questioning how these people are conducting that mans trial. Hell. The poles already sent him to lockdown back in ’46.
