President Trump spoke out against anti-Semitic threats, but his words were not enough for the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect

The title of this blog post is a quote from this news article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2017/02/21/anne-frank-center-slams-trump-do-not-make-us-jews-settle-for-crumbs-of-condescension/?utm_term=.05934eba3a7d

This is the headline on the news article:

Anne Frank Center slams Trump: ‘Do not make us Jews settle for crumbs of condescension’

The following quote is from the news article:

Begin quote

On Tuesday morning, Steven Goldstein, executive director of the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect, blasted Trump in a Facebook post.

“His statement today is a pathetic asterisk of condescension after weeks in which he and his staff have committed grotesque acts and omissions reflecting Antisemitism, yet day after day have refused to apologize and correct the record,” Goldstein said in the statement. “Make no mistake: The Antisemitism coming out of this Administration is the worst we have ever seen from any Administration.”

End quote

Trump is learning that you can never bow low enough to the Jews.

I have a section on my website that is all about Anne Frank: http://www.scrapbookpages.com/AnneFrank/AnneFrank02.html

President Trump, under pressure to speak out against rising anti-Semitic vandalism in the country…

The title of my blog post today is a quote from a news article which you can read in full at https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/02/21/trump-calls-rising-violence-aimed-at-jews-horrible-and-painful/?utm_term=.9cc12014caac

Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump

Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump

Why should there be “rising violence aimed at Jews” at this point? Is it because we have Jews in the White House now: Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and his daughter Ivanka who converted to Judaism after she married Kushner?

The following quote is from the news article:

Begin quote

“The anti-Semitic threats targeting our Jewish community at community centers are horrible and are painful and a very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate and prejudice and evil,” Trump said.

During an earlier interview with NBC News at the site, Trump said: “Anti-Semitism is horrible and it’s going to stop, and it has to stop.”

A preposition is not a word with which one should end a sentence

I recently wrote a blog post, on which I made a serious mistake in grammar when I ended a sentence with a preposition.

One of my readers offered to help me with my grammar.

This made me think about an old episode on the TV show “Beavis and Butt-head”, in which two FBI agents were having a conversation.

The first FBI agent said to his partner: “That’s the trailer they were jacking off in.”

The second FBI agent said: “You know better than to end a sentence with a preposition.”

Beavus and Butthead

Beavis and Butt-head

The first FBI agent then says: “Is that the trailer in which they were jacking off?”

In other words, there are some things that you just can’t write without ending your sentence with a preposition.

Technically this quote is from the movie “Beavis and Butt-Head do America”  based on the TV show.  I especially like the old lady in the movie.
