You can read about the liberation of Bergen-Belsen in this recent news article: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-suffolk-32314874

I wrote about Bergen-Belsen on my website many years ago: http://www.scrapbookpages.com/BergenBelsen/index.html

This place is famous because it is the place where Anne Frank died.

  1. There was no such thing as a “liberation of Belsen.” The Bergen-Belsen camp was surrendered to the British army, on Himmler’s order, in order to deal with a war-linked rising health disaster in the best possible way. It had even been jointly agreed to regard the camp as neutral and to administer it together for a while. But the opportunity for great graphic atrocity propaganda was too good to be missed. And His Most Gracious Majesty’s Propaganda Service quickly decided to rather opt for feigned indignation and to claim that the Belsen health disaster was in fact “the basis of the Nazi regime,” “the essential truth about Nazism,” ” what the war [was] about,” and “the answer to those who did not believe atrocity stories,” or, in short, that it “establish[ed] the war guilt.” After more than 5 years looking for him, the alleged Nazi devil had just been found!! At last!!! And for info, no self-illusioned wannabe hero opened the gate of the Belsen camp with his Sherman tank. The supposed British helpers were greeted at the gate by a grateful Josef Kramer, who quickly realized his mistake of staying instead of running away when there were still time and opportunities to do it.

    • I wrote about the so-called liberation of Belsen on my website at http://www.scrapbookpages.com/BergenBelsen/BergenBelsen05.html

The following quote is from my website:

“The Bergen-Belsen concentration camp was voluntarily turned over to the Allied 21st Army Group, a combined British-Canadian unit, on April 15, 1945 by Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, the man who was in charge of all the concentration camps. “
